What is it with those in the right of the political spectrum, give them a little rub and eugenics is never very far away...

She only wrote that 5 years ago as well. No excuses. Can’t believe she hasn’t just resigned immediately. Absolutely no self awareness of her privilege.

Interesting to compare the reaction to this silly politicians to the reaction of Ms Sultana from Birmingham and her assertion that she'd be happy when Blair, Bush et al die. At least try and be consistent and state that politicians suggesting other people should die is generally not a good thing, whomever the target is.

I think there's some difference between wishing someone dead for causing the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people in a war of dubious legality and wishing people dead because they're poor.

I agree that politicians shouldn't really be wishing people dead, though.

What dubious legality in Iraq and add Libya mess to the list, centrist foreign policy at its finest... Maybe give it a nice fluffy name like gentrification, westernisation, too much crusade connotations, any ideas?

Yeah that's why I deleted my post about a second after I sent it. You must have been sitting waiting for a reponse! lol
It's valid subject matter to bring Blair Cameron/Clegg, much fawned about Centrists here and elsewhere, however, there is much collateral damage, agmonst through foreign policy that has directly caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of people.
The inability of centrist to enter a debate borders sociopathic, different country, different colour different religions different cultures, not sure what these people have done to receive cold indifference.

"Compassionate Conservatism" alive and well, then, I see. What an utterly vile man Jacob Rees-Mogg is.

Indeed, and been proved beyond doubt that it was the cladding that was overalll contributing factor... I remember before Grenfell the elf and safety jokes and the bonfire of health safety Tories and Liberals proudly boasted about in direct connection with housing.

Oh goodie, that old chestnut. Neville Chamberlain says hi. The sad reality is that Iraq had a swine in charge, and the people of Iraq were going to suffer had he remained in power. It's the Corbynite fallacy that such decisions are easy peasy though and the people of Iraq would have been on the path to nirvana had we only sat on our hands. I know we like to portray history as ridiculously straightforward and make judgements with the benefit of hindsight, but things are seldom so straightforward.

That's a really crappy post, @Bruce Wayne , disappointing from you. The Neville Chamberlain remark is well below the belt. We didn't go to war with Iraq because Saddam Hussein was a "swine" (which he was), or because our leaders gave a fig about the Iraqi people, but because Blair lied that he presented a clear and present danger to this country, which was an utter fabrication. Drawing a moral equivalency between that and WW2 is shocking. As is equating it with wishing people dead for being poor and possibly engaging in low-level criminality.

Still suffering now, the Iraqi population as much as they did under Hussain maybe more, same with Libya. What is the point of brow beating anyone with Chamberlain rhetoric the state these two countries are in... Morally bankrupt Centrism.

I can't really grasp whether you're supporting Chamerlain's actions or not; I suspect it is the latter, which in reality is a pretty one-dimensional view of it.

Personally, I've always swayed towards the view that he gets an unwarranted level of criticism, when you consider the general sentiment of the time.

This was a generation which had went through the atrocity of the first war and many of them either did not come back or were mentally and physically wounded.

Whether they should have stood up to Hitler earlier is now purely academic, but at the time it was a common consensus that to stop another war was paramount.

If you say so.

Of course, and we shouldn't forget that he was treated like a hero when he came back from Munich. With hindsight however we can easily judge things very differently to how things were in that moment in time. All I'm saying is that it's really easy to be right when you don't actually have to make any decisions yourself.
