Current Affairs The Conservative Party

News like this helps them continue with their lie that they are the party of sound economics mind you.

People expecting a Labour landslide are going to be disappointed.
I used to think the same, but I honestly think people are seeing right through it all now and realise it is BS.

Unless people are really happy that the price of crumpets has stabilised.

The rank and file are just so out of touch with reality it might almost be painful (to watch). Some Tory Spad blert has written an ode to his ex-boss, the nearly ex-MP Nadhim Zahawi, with the sickening title:

"Farewell, Zahawi – a great patriot, minister, and servant to both Britain and the Conservatives"

Only in Toryland can you describe a man who tried to steal £5m from the nation and it's people a "great patriot ... and servant to Britain". At least even the comments on ConservativeHome are ripping this article a new one. For whatever reason...

The whole thing is a paean to the idea that the Tories are stronger when they've come from successful business outside politics, but the author freely admits:

"My own business experience is patchy ... as an adult it was limited to a few years of consulting."

Imagine lauding the idea of being an businesslike outsider to politics so much and yet being petrified of ever getting your hands dirtied and sullied by actual work. How can the only job you've ever had be a consultant? Who are you consulting, and on what, if you've never done anything meaningful? These utter schysters infest Westminster (and that may not be an entirely Tory problem, plenty of cash & opportunities slosh around UK politics).

Anyway, we must never, ever let them in again. Millionaires grubbing around in the dirt for ways to dodge their fair share of tax is already a blight on the country, let's not let them sit in the Cabinet at the same time, voting to pull vital public services away from those that need them.

Did you not catch earlier? 'it wuz china' apparently.

Incidentally, I had to pay a significant chunk of tax this year, in the region of £12k as a single immediate payment. I had to self-declare that I was liable, and having done so, had to pay up. I could have lied, and if I was ever caught out I could have claimed I was confused over the rules. Set up a payment plan, whatever. But really, it wasn't that complicated, and it's not like I have an accountant, I'd read the rules myself and worked out what I owed. The idea that multimillionaire Nadhim and his team of accountants just had a bit of a collective brain-whoopsie and didn't realise he owed £5m is absolutely ridiculous.

It's theft. Tax fraud is theft from us all. Patriots invest in their country, not steal from it.
