Productivity doesn't just boil down to hard work.

The biggest reason productivity is so lagging outside of London is decades of chronic underinvestment in both people and infrastructure.

When the Tories won power, immigration was a fraction of what it is now & there were ‘no boats’, no NHS waiting lists & ambulances responding quickly to emergency calls, no shortage of medicines, children actually attended schools and they were not crumbling, police investigated crime and were visible on the street and we had a decent sized armed force.

Labour should be proud of ‘square one’, ram that phrase down their throats and watch them stop using it.

It'd be nice if immigration wasn't framed as something bad but rather something that makes this nation what it is.

I agree with you Bruce, but 14 years of austerity, with causes problems with seeing a Doctor or a Dentist, huge waiting lists for social housing, doesn't prepare you very well for the added logistics problems that brings.

It's well documented that 100,000 migrants are much better from a tax perspective than 100,000 new borns as they contribute more than they cost straight away. The problem is the government has not invested that windfall.
