It's the lack of self awareness that is staggering. Pete says he has children living all over. Imagine if one of the countries they lived in was bombed or they suffered from persecution in some way. Logically, and fully understandably, they would probably want to come here as they have family here, but without a visa they're prevented from doing so. That's irrelevant for Pete though, they should go to Bulgaria or wherever is the nearest country, just because.
It's a staggering lack of comprehension to even begin to explore why someone would pay an awful lot of money and make the most incredibly harrowing journey to come here. It's not for shits and giggles. If the government wasn't full of dog whistling bellends they might look at people, many of whom are skilled professionals, and think "they've risked absolutely everything to come here, what an asset these skilled and determined people could be". But no, they have to be dog-whistling shitheads instead.

They admit to making £61m profit from their PPE contract with the Conservative Government, fast-tracked by Michael Gove. They both accept they lied about their involvement, she accepts she didn’t declare her interest to the House of Lords. In another startling statement, he says a Government official asked him for monies to ‘make the National Crime Agency investigation go away’.
Labour need to be creating a storm over this, the interview is worth a watch.
