Good to see that having blamed Thatcher for the riots in France, that the Conservative thread has now taken over the French Riots thread….just surprised Brexit hasn’t been blamed……

Slow night ?…..
Didn't get any take up there, I tried to post appropriate but the story developed in your beloved tories thread so here we are. white's been to bat for the alright jacks of course, and the French look bad because they have the rugby union world cup as a forerunner to the olympics and this disaster is near enough a total nightmare. of course the family of the poor boy murdered are going through hell and so the streets burn.

Thatcher herself has not been blamed.
It's the economic policies and philosophy that she introduced .
Macron's forcing these policies on the French people is the basic cause of the troubles.

Police carrying guns has never been a good idea. You have to feel for the poor lads family……

What intelligence would suggest a 17 year old, driving a car slowly is an imminent threat to life?

And where is the logic in thinking someone might assault someone, so you shoot them? That makes no sense to me.

Christ if I shot someone every time I thought someone might assault someone, there would be multiple murders each year. You can't police on that basis.

He wasn't driving slowly. He had stopped. He then chose to 'floor it'. His choice and his personal responsibility for the consequence that followed... Was he right or wrong to behave this way? Maybe, maybe not. This is what investigations are for. Allow time for the investigations to be carried out.

People in Paris aren't protesting about this killing. It's being used as an excuse to riot, loot and plunder the city. This kind of lawlessness will be in the UK in the next few years. Be careful what you all wish for.

I worked in the NHS for 18 months. It was the worst experience of my career and pushed me on to make sure I never ended up in a place like that again. I also was only permitted to have water. Anything else you had to bring your own. Even my breaks were monitored. Anything more than 10 minutes and they docked half an hour of your pay. When I tell people about it, they don't believe me, but it happened.
There's absolutely no way anyone in their right mind let's you near a patient, you massive danger. You'd be injecting their knees daily for a start. Probably with insulin too, ya nugget.

Got to be working in the kitchen or as a cleaner. Or data entry. I bloody hope so.

TBF a big part of the problem for the French is that they have gone quite a far way down the road of legally defining what cops can and cannot do in terms of use of force (including deadly force), even to the extent of saying that they can use deadly force to stop moving vehicles that they believe pose a serious threat to others. The US has done similar things with this stand your ground nonsense, which has resulted in all manner of absurd unintended consequences.

I know our legal system isnt perfect, but it really is much better that society doesn't distinguish between cops and the rest when it comes to assessing whether a use of force is legal or not, but only looks at whether the level of force used was justified in light of what was known at the time.

111 I would imagine, especially given the monitored breaks.
Jesus, can you imagine?

"Well the script says take ibuprofen, elevate the ankle, use compression and rest up the sprain. But I've watched some grifter on youtube and there aren't any 17yr long trials so I suggest injecting sugar into your ankle every 4 hours".

Jesus wept.
