Can't figure Clarkson out

Apparently very pro Europe in person yet stokes up nationalist nonsense all the time in his column and on tv

Neither can I - for all that nonsense he makes fantastic TV. I actively dislike cars, especially supercars, and find his politics and media associations abhorrent but Top Gear was one of the greatest TV shows of the past twenty years. He did some superb historical documentaries too, on Arnhem and PQ17 (and I think one on the St Nazaire raid).

The Arnhem show he did was great. His former father in law won the VC there and his exploits were mental.
