At best an utter inadequate put into the role at the worst possible time. At worst an opportunistic self-serving turd more interested in cronyism and his career.
It's in the idiot guide to being a Tory.

Just another observation he sits in a swing seat, so he is likely naturally personable.
And that he appears to be trying to build a career outside Westminster and is in a popularity competition so of course wants to appear a "nice chap." Come skating next...

He also gave his mate a 40m PPE contract and lied about it
I guess it’s quite difficult for people to think anything less of Hancock. He’s starting from “widely hated” position of course rightly so, and he is coming across as half-human so he’s probably ahead already.

If he gets enough exposure, people will judge him on his superficial demeanor on TV now and that's unfortunately Britian culturally in 2022, rather than and more importantly, by his previous actions and thus deeper truer character.

It’s actually quite a clever move by Hancock to monetize his circumstance so I’m actually angrier at ITV for inviting him onto the show.

They should never have done it. There’s a very real chance it’ll all kick-off and become very uncomfortable. Reality TV in general is just the modern version of Roman games or laughing at the mentally ill in the Victorian freak shows. It’s actually rather quite distasteful.

Here they come the crass twunts of Brexit. Lord Wolfson wanted out to get rid of EU regulations. Basically, slash customer and employment rights. He thought he could bring in cheaper labour but didn't plan for Labour shortages. These Brexit bosses like him are an absolute joke. Enabled by vote Leave / Tories over immigration. Without those promises Brexit wouldn't have won.

But... I thought everyone knew what they were voting for?

Hancock has played a blinder here.

“Oh, it turns out he’s normal just like us!”

“But what about all the lies, scandals, etc.?

“Well he said he was sorry. He’s only human and we all make mistakes”.

It’s so predictable and he’s playing the general public for the absolute fools that they are.
He's a politician. It's what they do.

I can’t even blame Hancock at this point. The public have all the info at their fingertips but they choose to be gullible and easily manipulated.
This is it. If you think someone like Johnson is a decent guy despite all the evidence pointing to the contrary then you can’t just blame Johnson for doing Johnson things. You can blame all the people that enable his behaviour though.
