nah, she was warned repeatedly weeks and months prior. not white-washing that.
I don't doubt she was warned.

I watched Sunak warn her repeatedly, every time she outlined her economic "plans" in the leadership contest.

My point was not about praising her for changing her mind. My point was more about the absurdity of the British media and the electorate baying for blood whenever a "U-turn" is made, but also constantly moaning that governments don't listen to or respond to public feedback regarding unpopular policies.

think thats bum-about-nork that. the temperature went up because of the warning and then the doing and then the 'we're sticking with it' fiasco and then the climb down. the people are angry because of the harm done, the affect to markets and the perception that some people on the information gravy train made a lot of money very quickly and easily. the trick was listening in the first place and not having to clean up after the fact. thats how you win hearts and minds, stubborn practice and pigheadedness (cammers!) only alienates an already pished off populace further.

every decision wrong consecutively. its impossible to be wrong so often. its being done on purpose. these lot are trying stuff mugabe would be ashamed of.

Covid vaccinations put out faster than the rest of Europe to begin with, we started them - they followed us ....

That's what happens when you have a shameless capitalist egotistical muppet in charge - he splashed the cash and gambled. No plan no process. Hence other countries ended up better. Don't mention the £40 billion wasted on test and trace etc

Agree with all of that. My comment is on a separate point.

The British media's obsession with "gotcha" moments, particularly the "U-turn" is, in my opinion, just a little pointless. If every U-turn is attacked without hesitation, there is a disincentive to any government or minister to ever change their mind.

While I broadly agree with the sentiment, it bothers me the origins of the feedback that often precedes the u-turn, because it's seldom actual experts that the government listens to before performing u-turns. They generally don't seem to give two stuffs about them, but will turn on a dime if the electorate seems at all bothered by something. That's nothing more than a populist government.

They bring this on themselves however by attempting to implement policies that aren't thought through or evidence based.

Because that's sensible, long term planning that benefits the whole country. They don't do that sort of thing.
It's utterly bonkers that we aren't adopting solar PV. A quick look at my monthly energy bill shows me that 60% of my bill is electricity - the correct solar panels & storage battery setup would cut my monthly bill in half, at least during the April to November part of the year.

There is no incentive for any politician who wants to keep on being a politician to think further than the next election...

Ignoring the fact that it was so long ago, that they botched the covid response so badly in the first place, that being in or out of the EU made no difference to the rollout and that nearly every EU country overtook Britain in their vaccine rollouts within a couple of months. Ignoring all those things, and agreeing that this was a benefit, did this fact alone make Brexit a roaring success?

We were independent to role out the vaccinations while the EU squabbled.....they seen sense in the end ......Italy had it so bad to begin with - inaction from the EU.....
Our vaccination programme led the way ......
