I've always thought that a more collective system would be good if you were building a country up from nothing.

But to create it in somewhere like the UK, it has to be enforced with an iron fist as you'd be changing the perception of what life is about, for example seizing all housing from people who (mistakenly) believe they own it, and implementing rationing. People wouldn't like it, and it'd have to be enforced in the strongest possible way to bring people into line.

That, or collapse everything and have people begging for whatever will get them out of it...

I don't know the answer, because the current system is horrible. Maybe that is the answer

A start could be made on taxing the assets of people who are not domiciled in the UK. So they own a tonne of assets but don’t want to pay any tax on them. Something has to be done about that. Pretty sure that’s what Sunak has done recently. Has about 700 million in assets.

Presumably nondoms pay tax somewhere? Isn't non-dom status simply saying you won't get taxed twice on the same income?
