I'm early 50s and Chelsea are a yo-yo club to me that had periods of moderate success: a sort of London Manchester City who liked to take the odd excursion to the second division.
The late 1990s was the first time in 25 years that Chelsea were genuinely a top six side. They had a very brief spell in the mid-80s as a flakey contender, but then so did West Ham. The early 70s was their glory period - and it was brief.
Nah, Chelsea are the original plastic club, built on corruption. I'll never recognise them as a club of our stature.
