The case for the defence...

Settled centre backs is a big part of it. We have consistently had to chop and change for years and then made things worse by sending Mina straight into the team every few weeks when he finally got fit again. Then he inevitably got injured and we had to try another partnership, and repeat....

But we defend far better as a collective now. We have a bit of structure to the team and far more grit as well.

Its becuase Mina is injured, if he had of been playing no chance we have this record
Don't really get this comment at all. The difference in our defence when he played last season compared to when he didn't was absolutely light and day. We only conceded 10 in the time he was actually on the pitch for us last season - and that's without the luxury of an actual functioning 3 man midfield in front of him that we have now.

Our defense last season nearly got us relegated and he was a massive part in that.
Frank started him early season, meaning he was part of his starting 11, his injury helped us find our best back pair.

So did Holgates injury as the first 3 matches he was equally as good as the other two, if not slightly better than Tarkowski so when Frank went to the two it might have been Cody and Holgate

If you don't concede, you don't lose games is how I see it. With a strong defence and a growing midfield, the forward players can develop with less pressure.

We looked threatening on the counter attack yesterday only to be limited by the precision in the final third, but that will come with time.
Alex Ferguson said strikers win you matches, defences win you titles...

I've just told you we only conceded 10 with him actually on the pitch?

Only criticism Mina deserves for last season would be his pathetic injury record.

Near 60% win rate with him in the side last season says different.

And that was a very very poor side he was playing in.

His quality is never in question , his injury record is the only concern.

If Keane , Holgate & co hadn't played so many games we might never have been in a relegation scrap.
