The Best and Worst of the derby!

I always blame Idn rotten Tal for that.

He was in possession at the edge of their box very late in the game....gave the ball to one of their players then chased after him.

He could have taken him down at any stage but instead waited until the bugger was well into our half and in shooting range

Had the free kick been taken from the correct spot the goal would never have materialised. Tal was garbage though.

1964 at the pit pool 0 blues 4 from what I remember goals from Harvey Morrisey Temple and I think it was Pickering with the other best memory ever
Worst goodison 5-0 hammering

I remember Mick Lyons climbing head and shoulders above their defence at Goodison early seventies, buried the header of course disallowed still don't know why

Never a foul that. Big Mick outjumped Alec Lindsay at the far post to nod in - game on Granada the next day and they couldn't work out why it was disallowed. No justice and we still had Thomas and Clattenburg to come.

Best: Andy King and that '81 cup game - Imre Varadi

Worst: Glenn Keeley, '86 Cup Final and the '71 Semi at Old Trafford - 1st one felt like we were never going to beat them ever again, next two we were much the better team and should have won easily. I've tried to erase the Martinez debacle when John Stones walked off from my memory.

The loss of Brian Labone in 71 was crucial. :(

In the grand scheme of life a match that was pretty much a non event,May 1981,Steve Highways testimonial,I was seeing a girl who had no real interest in footie, the type that wanted both teams to do well but couldnt name a player
Anyway wanting to know what my obsession with Everton was she asked to attend a game, Highways testamonial was due so she was invited to go to it,it just so happened it was the start of Howies reign,1000s of blues turned up and we couldnt get in the Rd end so went in the paddock opposite the Kemlyn rd
After explaining it was basically a charity match she was amazed by the Everton turn out and decided that was the team for her,any way we split up not long after due to my going to an away match rather than her sisters 18th,bumped into her a couple of years ago outside Goodison and found out she had 3 sons who were all mad blues so cheers Highway for creating more bluenoses

Best. Carsley Derby. They rocked up cocky as anything and we sent them packing to go 12 points ahead of them. Martyn shut the door in Stevie Me’s face so often that day. Hadn’t beaten them for ages before that.

Worst:
08/09 season. I can take being battered in derbies when we’re crap but that year we were better than them in both yet lost both. Goodison especially they won 2-0 and had one shot on target. Mascherano with a huge deflection to go 1-0 then they just got battered with Reina and their usual luck keeping them in it. Kuyt with an undeserved second at the end on the break.

13/14 at home was annoying because again we should have caned them 4 or 5 and we didn’t finish and they scored three from 4 chances (nearly 4 with the Allen miss) all three set pieces.
that first one was 09/10, first derby I went to at the tender age of 18. Reina had an absolute blinder I remember one in particular when Fellaini i think shot from about 6 yards out and it jsut hit reina's arm and went over

Yes you’re right it was. In the Anfield Derby Kyrgiakos got sent off and we were passing it round like we owned Anfield yet still contrived to somehow lose and end up having a man sent off.

0-5 wasn't nice, but they were a great team at their peak, against our 10 men. 86 was horrible, but at least we had the consolation of bouncing back and winning the league, nothing for me can be as bad as that bottle job at Wembley in 2012 against the likes of Jay Spearing and Brad Jones. As for the best, there's been more than you might think,Andy King's goal was the first time I'd seen us beat them (though I was kid who'd only been going a couple of years back then)but I loved the Kanchelskis game, sat in their paddock under the main stand, surrounded by some of the most sour gob*****s you could ever meet (and they think we're bitter!!),that was a great afternoon, especially when Rush come out afterwards and said that they were outdone by Everton's long ball game,2-1 flattered them,we should have been 5 or 6 up by the time they got a consolation with the last kick of the game.

did we lose that one 1-0 and Kuyt scored the scruffiest (most of his are) goal ever from a corner... I went to work with it at 0-0 and us bossing, came back and found out we hadn't even drawn.
