I’ll probably get called a hipster but I prefer their more experimental electronic stuff but again that comes down to the fact that I find guitar music incredibly stale for the most part. Part of the reason Radiohead have managed to continue to stay relevant is because they also got bored of traditional guitar music and wanted to expand and develop their sound.
That is a shame, I do feel for you there. Get some Mars Volta in you.
Im generalising tbh, I do still listen to some guitar based music but generally needs to have a lot going on sonically to keep me interested, needs to not 'sound' like a traditional 4 piece rock band for starters.
Stuff like this I can get down to. I'll check out Mars Volta, I know they are meant to be good for what they do. I don't mind stuff like Sigur Ros and Explosions In The Sky either.
..never heard of either, had no idea what the thread was about. You should listen to a bit of Dean Martin.
Like asking which child you love more. Impossible.
Definitely not with their later stuff. Personally I love the Bends and OK Computer, but have seriously struggled to get into any of their post-2000 material. It's not like I have a phobia of experimental music, I listen to a lot of prog rock, post rock and metal, and outside-the-box stuff like Faith No More. But every time I've tried to get into something like Kid A or In Rainbows I have such an indifference towards it. I feel like I've heard everything on it already, but done better.
Hail to the Thief?
Never given it a shot to be honest, same with King of Limbs and the latest album. I gravitated towards In Rainbows because of how highly acclaimed it is, but alas, not for me.
Aren't they all very P4K bands?
Both excellent but OK Computer came out and smashed the whole Britpop world apart.
Look at Blur and Oasis, that album destroyed them, musicially. The 4 piece has never been the same and raised the bar which only The Strokes, Libertines and Coldplay have come near.
but generally needs to have a lot going on sonically to keep me interested
