So, we have Gary Lineker taken off air despite saying he wanted to host MOTD this weekend because of his views relating to Government policy. We also have some of David Attenboroughs content not being available on national tv for fear of upsetting the Far Right, but it is totally acceptable for a person to apply for and then be awarded the job of Chairman of the BBC, whilst at the exact same time facilitating an 800k loan for the then Prime Minister.

Mhairi Black hit the nail on the head with her powerful speech in the Commons regarding Fascism. I feel have travelled further down that road since then.

The one thing that gives me hope is that there are considerable differences, at least in the UK, between classical fascism and this.

Classical fascism had a genuine base amongst the population, people that actually did things because they believed fascism was the right course of action, believed in the Leader and worked together to bring that form of government about. This entailed discussion and identification of what they (the people involved) actually wanted, and why it ended up being so resistant.

This nonsense on the other hand is candy-floss scam-fascism, manufactured from on high and then fed to parts of the population. The Leader is largely irrelevant as well (since they don't lead) and so as time goes on more and more people will get sick of it / actively hate it.

I don't think that's the case. This is Mussolini's pure fascism, the marriage between business and state.
The similarities are hidden by theatre and the dumbing down of 'politics' to a twitter spat and Fiona Bruce as an apologist for domestic violence.
I've often said people expect fascism to arrive by the sound of jackboots marching down Breck road. It's here and has been for some time.

It starts with language, so ably pointed out by Gary Lineker.

True. It’s fascism 101 to use language which over time will cause people to cease to see the group the language is targeting as humans. The way the media and government are framing these poor people as a “invasion” or as “parasites” is deliberate with that goal in mind.

Another question you need to ask is “why?” Sunak doesn’t seem to really care and is only doing this to fight on the culture wars front, and to discredit the ECHR, as do most of the cabinet. Braverman probably feels this policy doesn’t go far enough as she is a genuinely evil monster who probably wants to melt the refugees to use them as biofuel, as does that vile gammon-like freak Anderson.

Something that is very apparent is that the BBC has became the lapdog of a massively far right government of self-serving greedy cretins. As a result the BBC’s reputation has been irreparably damaged.

Spot on, and this is what I think Mhairi Black alludes to in her speech.

In a way fascism by the back door.

Even there though, the number of businesses that actively support this are tiny and even then are from a very small part of the economy. Johnson once opined "[Poor language removed] business" and to be fair to him it is probably the one thing he said that he actually delivered.

Mussolini had genuine and effective support in Italian society; I am not sure (at least based on how the propaganda machine is running constantly) that this lot actually do.

Fascism lol

The BBC is always left or right "controlled" depending on who you listen to.

The road to cancel culture started with Political Correctness that was pushed by the left. Soon as someone on TV makes the slightest inappropriate joke the reaction at home watching is always "oh he shouldn't have said that" "oh thats him in hot water" with before long said person is in hot water needing to either apologise or is cancelled.

Look at the situation with that grifter claiming that Royal arl bird had purposely offended her - the arl dear had to step down due to trial by mainstream & social media labelling her a racist .

The Left have opened the door to this nonsense and cannot get salty when a shyster Government starts using the tactic to its own agenda

Enoughto have them elected. Enough for the 'opposition' to sit in mimicry. Enough for the right wing press to be so dominant.
The revolving door is the marriage. Politicians know exactly what business wants and aren't arsed about 'appearances' any more.
The entire PPE thing through covid is testament to that marriage. Each decision was based primarily on who can.bwnefit from this financially, with public interest way down the thinking.
It's what lobbying is for. The entire raft of spads was created to bridge business with government.

That is a thoroughly erudite and helpful contribution.

And that's what you think fascism is?

Your comments and portrayed beliefs on these boards have had a greater influence on enabling fascism than any 'lefty'. Jeez.

I don't know if you know this but history didn't begin ten years ago.

Yes, but there is a difference between enough to be elected and enough to be able to resist a crisis. Look at Truss' defenestration - how rapid that was; they knew where they were going to end up if she had been allowed to continue.

As for SPADS I disagree, I think they are a necessity for a political class to have - a level where aspiring members can be assessed and filtered before they go on to join the class itself. The one thing they do not do is go into business first, mostly its think-tanks or media (Tories) or charities, unions and think-tanks (Labour). If they did go into business and actually learn something useful the phenomenon of the SPAD would be less damaging than it is; after all at the moment we have the worst of all worlds in that most of them think they know far more than they actually do, and have the power to order about people who actually do know what they are doing.
