The BBC and MOTD is as laughable as ever

Can't get Sky! =(

To be fair, think the show could have been extended a bit last night. I can understand why it wasn't deemed as high priority as some of the other games, but it seems to be every bloomin week!

No excuse just to skip on to the next game though, I hate that. What I hated more was that they didn't even show the very beginning of Beckfords goal. If I remember right, they showed him a good 15 yards outside his box at the start of that highlight. He was inside his box wasn't he, when he started his Weahesque gallop

Great goal, but he sure got a lot of luck (which he made!)
I have got sky, and dont watch the footy on there, the sparkly bias doesn't stop at the BBC, at least online streams etc are usually foreign and save us from the wankfest over the usual clubs

This Beckford goal - am I alone in thinking it was great perseverence from the player but wasn't that spectacular?

The Keystone Cops defending on the half way line with 4 Chelsea players bumping into each other and the ridiculous decision of Cech to stay on his line until Beckford was in the box stuck out as much as the effort of Beckford himself.

That's not to excuse Lineker et al's ignoring of the goal, btw.
That's like saying Ryan Giggs' "wondergoal" in 1999 against Arsenal was all because of defenders backing off, giving him too much space or slipping at key moments

Hardly comparable. Regardless Beckford's goal wasn't that spectacular, it was a bit of luck and some strong running followed by a decent finish. Not Goal of the season, anybody saying that has rose tinted specs on.

I agree with Davek, but thats only become i'm predisposed to bringing Everton down in this fashion.

twas a good goal. Beckford got a lucky break with the bounce of the ball but thats whats needed at Everton- a bit of luck- so dont nobody poo-poo it when we get a break for once, whens the last time we wuz lucky? - and even this was in a match with nowt on the out-come

I do agree not the best goal I've ever seen but if it had been scored by Rooney or ronaldo etc it would be replayed and replayed. The important thing is the win and Beckford repaying the faith the club has shown in him this season. Anon.

It was a good goal, but with a lucky bounce. It really wasn't that spectacular and the main reason it didn't recieve much attention was because the show largelly revolved around the relegation battle and they had a lot to fit into a short amount of time. They didn't exactly lavish praise on Pavlyuchenko's strikes either. If it had been scored in a more important game and in a week where there wasn't so much attention on a specific issue (ie relgation battle) then I'm sure it would have got highglithed more. And how could it have been listed as one of the goals of the season, when they were taken for each of the winners of goal of the month? Sometimes fans are just way too sensitive. This isn't a big deal at all.

For me it was spectacular. Luck plays a part in all good goals. Was the keeper too far off the line, did messi catch them out of formation, did the deflected cross by Nani set up Rooney for the spectacular? Etc etc.

Show me a good goal, I'll show you a bad mistake, as Ray Houghton says, but Beckfords goal showed drive, determination, confidence, control, and a cool finish. With those qualities he can only improve. Oh, and it proved the deciding goal against a team who are / were 2nd in the table...

Well in Jermaine lad. :) great goal mate!
