They've seen CL wins and PL wins. Do you think they were anything but mild pissed off at having travelled out for the final of that competition and lost..if they were it'd only have been to get shut of Amorim.

This is incredible to me...people taking up Villa's case and calling the EL trophy anything other than a third rate devalued trophy....and dont even get started on the piss pot they dinosaur won with West Ham...

I knocked that tat out of the ballpark yesterday: the context changed and that competition is gaining in credibility at a rate that the EL is losing it.

Tell me the old UEFA CUP wasn't more prestigious than this version of the competition....

Yes, and this is a new international cup competition with a burgeoning reputation and the Europa League is just a rebranding of an old competition that's going backwards in terms of credibility.

Look, if it were offered to Everton Ild take it...but let's not deny that it's nowhere near as important as it was in the past. It's not. Only the CL is credible now.

Lads, why is it considered embarrassing when Europa League or Conference League winners fans sing 'champions of Europe"? Because the Champions League holds all the prestige/credibility.

I guess its one of those where it only makes sense if you win the thing, maybe? On a personal level, I view the Europa as a backdoor into the Champions League. Not arsed about the trophy because it's not one that really matters imo.

Here's a thought experiment. If Moyes got us to the Europa league or Conference league final and lost to a last minute goal, after sitting 10 men behind the ball against Sparta Prague, reckon folk would be sanguinely saying "it's a nothing trophy anyway"?
