The Aston Villa Thread

Shame with Ancelotti, I think if we'd got him earlier in Moshiri's time, he'd have won something - and more than just a win at Anfield! Alas, Covid and sods law with timing/Real Madrid, he did 60 odd games. Think he's like 3rd for win rate as Everton manager with Mason Holgate and co.

Benitez, even without it being him/Liverpool, he was long past his own best. He'd checked out in China before us.

No coincidence Glasner who won a Europa League title, then wins an FA Cup with Palace. Emery, serial winner, has Villa on the brink of their first trophy in 30 years. What it's all about.

No surprise to me whatsoever to me that it was Emery from this list who takes them to that level.

If anything it shows when Villa spent money (Gregory, o’neill, smith and Emery) they exceeded expectations… obviously Gerard is the exception to the rule… thankfully

Another round of signings for spurs and they'll have more on the books than chelsea.

They need a clear out, but no one will buy players out for so much of the previous season. A lot now wont play at the WC. And getting prestige players in will think twice with two bottom four finishes and team places not guaranteed. Also the toxic remnants of the previous regimes.

A season of consolidation beckons. They might try and get smart and try to offer players on the books as part payment for others...
Same for Chelsea. Need a full clear out and rebuild. Spurs, RS and Chelsea performances have enhanced Villa… league form
Has been poor but no one has take advantage it.
Emery was able to play the lack of challenge to good effect, rested and threw the game with spurs… put pressure on forest to go for the win. Which they achieved for league survival but at the expense of a losing key players
