The Ashes 2025

I think you're very much a glass half full supporter of your side and have been for a long time now, I hope they pull off a change in form. I think there's massive technical issues with most of the batters and the bowlers are struggling to be consistent. Here's hoping it changes.
I've never really seen the point in hating the team you support. Even with some of the professional commentators I get the impression they'd rather be right than their team win.

Alas Bashir got 0-115 off 25 overs for Lions v Australia A last weekend, I don't think he's the answer.

Asa Tribe, on the other hand, got 129* but no-one is talking about him cos he's County Championship Division 2, albeit he got about 1000 runs in ten innings across August and September. Bethell still doesn't have a first class century and looked scratchy albeit for 71 in the same Lions game.

Anyway, we've seen this movie before, England are toast and I can't see a way they avoid 0-5 as draws almost never happen these days. The only question is can they lose 0-5 in under 15 days of cricket! 🤣
He's obviously somewhat in their thoughts if he's with the lions. Couldn't tell you anything about county cricket since the Benson and hedges Cup if I'm being honest.

Totally agree. Especially on the commentators. I am frequently muting cricket (and football) these days due to the constant, unrelenting mumbling and drivel that they produce to continue to fill up dead air time instead of just letting me watch the game play out. People with less playing experience than myself offering their inane thoughts. They make it unwatchable.

Im definitely not a hater of this English side, they look a team bereft of confidence being led in a poor direction by an egotistical coach. There's a balance to be found in attack vs defence. Worth noting New Zealand were a better test side after his retirement too.

England are on a break apparently. What happened to the tradition of touring sides playing against club or state teams between tests?
Just to keep their eye in as it were.
In the past now due to the cricketing schedule. For example, India only played one game this summer pre the test series against England, and also played only played one game last time they played in Australia. I'm sure most countries nowadays do the same.

I don’t think it is about hating the team. Its being taken for mugs.

The media hype is all around saying this is the greatest ever, PL number one example, to drive subscriptions and social media clicks. What the reality is to many people with a good understanding of the game is seeing people play poorly.

We are constantly told that this player is great. I feel if they are really great, I don’t need to be told. I can see it with my own eyes.

I personally see players getting out in silly ways and looking like they cba
That we over prepared statement said it all.

In the mid 80’s Aussie cricket was a bit of a joke. They appointed Allan Border as captain to try and change the culture. In one of the early tests as skipper,he was batting with Dean Jones who was vomiting pitch side and had the squirts.
He asked Border if he could retire hurt.
Border said yes he could, but could he make sure he sent someone out who could battle as he didn’t do quitters.
Jones stayed.
The next 30 odd years is impressive history.
Apart from Root, Stokes really needs to have that type of no place for weak people in my team conversation and graft.
We usually lose badly in Australia. We can cope with that. We’re Evertonians after all 😁. But look like you care and it hurts to lose.

Plenty of bad pundits about, TMS and TNT are certainly among them. Generally I think cricket does commentary better than most sports though.

Could listen to these two chat all day
