This has been my view all along, but it just gets dismissed. The police aren't "racist". They do kill proportionally more blacks than whites, but that is because the crime/incarceration rate amongst African-American communities is 5x higher. You're most likely to be shot during an arrest, which explains this trend.
Furthermore, twice as many whites are killed by police than black people (numerically), but we never hear about it because there aren't violent protests/riots connected with it. It is publication bias. Look up a guy called Dillon Taylor, shot by a black cop with his headphones in. No-one has heard of him or multiple other white victims because it isn't really a big story. There aren't campaign groups and violence associated with them. Making it into a race issue just exacerbates the situation. It is a problem with poor training of police officers and wide availability of guns, complemented by nervousness whilst doing their job (because of events like these). As a result, a small proportion of cops are trigger happy.
