this hits a bit closer to home.
Wife and kid are supposed to go to the Maine/NH border to visit friends tomorrow night.
A shooter at large is one huge problem but theres also the fact that almost everyone in that neck of the woods is armed (lots, heavily).
The whole area will be coming down with itchy trigger fingers.
Got a few friends sheltering in place.
Hopefully this can come to a quick conclusion.
Devastating stuff.

well crap. The maine shooter is apparently in Somerville now. My neighborhood here in greater Boston.
Lucky my neighbor has a ford F150 with a window sticker that says "we the people are packing heat".
this came from a family member who's a firefighter and EMT. It's as yet unsubstantiated.
There's got to be lots of sightings of a whilte 5'11" mail in his 40s.

I remember going Florida as a kid and going around Walmart and right next to the toy section, they had a gun counter. Was amazed at the sight of it. I remember asking my dad if he would buy me one instead of the baseball bat glove/ball they had. Think I was 9 or 10 and not fully understanding that they was real guns and you could buy them in a super market. It’s mind boggling how it’s allowed when stuff like this continues to happen. Rip to the victims. Another sad day/dark day in America.

CNN had a local council member on earlier. He spoke very well in general but said when he heard about the shooting he got his guns. Not the way to protect yourself and a sign of the problem the US has when it comes to guns.
Please forgive me if I'm wrong, but has there ever been an occasion when a gun carrying member of the public has ever stopped a mass shooter. I don't ever remember one.

It does occasionally happen but rare (3% of cases per this article)

Considering the amount of firearms owned by the public, I wonder why it's so low.
Maybe the politicians who call for teachers and other public sector workers to be armed may want to revisit that particular madcap idea.

Just for clarity that was a rhetorical question.
Any right minded individual when faced with a gun toting maniac would run away, very quickly.
