“Arm the nurses”
Also today, sadly the guard later died of their injuries.

An unidentified inmate at the Montgomery County Jail in Dayton, Ohio, died Wednesday after he shot a security guard and then turned the gun on himself at the Miami Valley Hospital. The incident happened while the inmate was at the hospital to receive medical treatment. He was initially admitted to the emergency department around 1 a.m. local time.

Around 9:45 a.m., the inmate managed to take the security guard’s gun and fired it, wounding the guard. The inmate eventually used the weapon on himself and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“The inmate was able to get the gun away from the armed security guard and shot the security guard and then shot himself in the parking lot behind the emergency room,” said Dayton Police Maj. Brian Johns.

The irony that their argument that we need armed guards to prevent shootings then a shooting occurs using an armed guards weapon

Playing the Devil's Advocate. As I've said a huge % of Americans feel their 2nd Ammendment rights are extremely important to them. So, if we are saying - general consensus - that stricter gun control measures will NOT stop mass killings / shootings, do they have a valid point in saying that why implement these measures if those asking for these measures to be brought in, concede the mass killings will carry on.

Someone accused me of " not knowing America " might I strongly suggest that if people genuinely believe more gun control measures will be brought in, they are deluded. It just isn't going to happen, ever.
Copied this specifically for you. Written by a political conservative who worked in the Reagan Administration and is a long-time columnist for conservative publications (National Review, etc). I don't wholly agree with some of her conclusions but the myths she addresses specifically counter some of your assertions.
