Putting to the side all of the legal elements of owning and carrying guns in the US and self defence etc.

From both a morality and sanity viewpoint, it is not OK for any citizen, nevermind a 17 year old kid, to intentionally confront people they don't agree with, while armed with an assault rifle. Travelling to another place specifically to do that makes it even worse.

Two people have died and another is severely injured.

The 17 year old has also ruined his own life, regardless of what the courts decide.

Everything about the situation is wrong.

Putting aside everything, the lad is literally a kid who just ruined his life. If he goes to jail his life is over. If he doesn't his life is still quasi-over. And for what? What did he even get out of that? He's got some really messed up views of his fellow Americans that have, most likely, been taught to him his whole life.

I would think he went there with a "this is going to be us counter protesting" and things got way over his head. I can't even fathom how scared he probably was but he put himself there. Feel bad for the kid but feel much much much worse for the ones he has killed and permanently disfigured.

And, again, over what?

It used to be you could disagree with things. You could sit down and explain why you think your POV was the best. You may be wrong, you may be right. Hell, you might even change someones stance or have yours changed.

30 years of one side just demonizing anyone who isn't them and this is just the start imo. Fox News and the like have instilled an idea that anyone who isn't COMPLETELY aligned with them doesn't have the right to be an American. That ONLY those who watch Fox(and, again, the like) are the ones keeping this country together.

Good. As much as people have tried kneeling, t-shirts, protests etc, nothing appears to be changing.

Maybe now that it will affect sponsorships, advertisers, rich owners then hopefully some proper action is taken. We could do with other American sports following suit.

That ridiculous country was founded on white supremacy, it'll take more than t-shirts to sort out their problems.

Start by taking all of the guns off the idiots for starters.

Because everything started out as racism.

History. Whoa.

That's not what I meant (i'm talking about the Jacob Blake shooting by the way, not the white supremacist PoS)

The fella had a history of gun violence, he's resisting arrest and he's reaching into his car - i'm not condoning shooting him 7 times in the back, but if i'm a Police Officer, and someone who has already been tasered, overpowered me and another Officer and is known to have firearms is reaching into his car - i'd shoot him too. NEA.

They've had a black president and it's arguably worse now since then with Trump at the helm. I just don't see how anyone can imagine things will change. They'll never change their gun laws, never ever.

There are too many special interests influencing government and, I hate to say, they have a much higher percentage of incredibly stupid people than most other Western democracies. Too many resistors to change. Trump is still going on about coal power ffs. They reached their emotional peak as a nation long ago and have been slowly plummeting since imo. They need less Kenosha Guntwerp and more LinekersLegs

It's actually comical that he is the President. He's unqualified, undignified, a sociopath and an idiot, who won the election on a tagline - which essentially means Americans are idiots too (the ones who follow him anyway).

America are reaping what they sowed by voting him in.

Simplistic but he's the end result of people feeling like they're dictated to - what to think, feel and say.

He's a knee-jerk response - but then, that's largely populism.

I think he'd have strolled the November election if Covid-19 and the subsequent unemployment didn't happen.

Precisely.

He's not doing a great job of 'Making America Great Again' - quite the opposite.
