Probably not but I don't know the rules of that particular jurisdiction.

Personally I prefer officers to be trained to shoot to stop, not kill, in such a situation.
My brother and two cousins are cops in different cities in different states (PA and OH).

Seemingly their training is very similar and its only certain laws and regulations that are different.

It hard for cops to injure and not kill when shooting someone. They would have to be very accurate. Hence they all teach the two to the body one to the head thing.

In saying that they are all issued less lethal weapons for someone coming at them with knifes etc... they have tasers and are trained in hand to hand combat with the police stick.

My brother once told me that in an instant given how they are trained to pull their gun then that's what they do. Most don't consider pulling a taser when they see a weapon like a rock, metal bar or a knife.

Its a tough job and honestly they could do with retraining on how to start out pulling a less lethal weapon until they see a gun. This mentality that they have no time seems to be an excuse. This is where myself and my brother disagree. Although I suspect he would never admit he could easily pull another weapon and change it quickly if needed.

I suppose so. If one shoots to kill then, yes, they've stopped the suspect.

In this case, the officer unloaded her pistol at the suspect. She had time to back up, reload and fire the gun until empty a second time. During that second round of firing she advanced on the wounded man and continued shooting. I counted 12 shots.

The dead man is not blameless. He advanced on an officer while brandishing a weapon (reportedly 2 knives and a screwdriver - I'm guessing he was high/drunk/mentally unbalanced or all) and did not stop advancing when told to do so.
Yeah the overkill thing needs to stop. One or two bullets should be enough unless they are high on certain drugs. There should 99% of the time be a case for emptying a clip.

There's no question it is an incredibly tough job.

black on black shooting in Chicago *shocker*. 15 injured in their “gun free” city.
I didn't know Chicago was gun free. I thought all US cities had lots of guns.

They have strict gun laws compared to other places. The problem of course being that a city law only effects the city and anyone with a car can drive elsewhere, including nearby pro-gun Indiana, and buy whatever they please. It's a typical conservative disingenuous argument.
