Today's multiple murder:

Thoughts and prayers eh?

Today's multiple murder:

What a country...

If only everyone had a gun this could be prevented. Thoughts and prayers. We need to make sure we monitor those with mental health problems. What about Chicago. The 2nd amendment is there to protect the other amendments. The guns were probably purchased illegally. Violent crime has been dropping, etc., etc., etc.,

Mental health is a major factor in a lot of these incidents. Amongst other emotional, social and mental related issues.

So too the availability of guns, both legal and illegal.

Nevertheless, it's not law abiding sane people I'd be concerned about being in possession of guns legally, for whatever activity/reason they claim.

250,000 guns are stolen off law abiding citizens every year in the States.
The availability of illegal guns is mostly due to the availaility of legal guns.

What an original take we didn't expect from you at all

Why don't you condemn those committing the criminal act of theft instead of those possessing guns legally ?
I never condemned those possessing guns legally.
However, if you own a gun and if you don't have it securely stored, you're a grade A moron and a huge part of the problem.

The point I was trying to make is that there are far too many guns in circulation. If you reduce access to legal guns, you will also reduce access to illegal guns.
Massachusetts has strict gun laws (relatively speaking) and it works ok but if you want a gun you just have to drive up to New Hampshire.

There needs to be a federal ban on assault weapons.
There needs to be mandatory federal background checks.
There needs to be limits on how many guns or how much ammunition a private citizen can posess.
There needs to be a voluntary federal buy back programs for existing assault weapons.
The gun show loophole needs to end.

All these ideas have majority support in the US and would all reduce gun crime.

Apart from the gang related, criminal based shootings...

Most of the shooters in many of the bigger incidents who were later deemed to have mental issues actually were law abiding citizens before the shooting.

Only a small number of them were known to the cops.

Who do you think suffers from mental issues? It's generally law abiding citizens who are stressed and one day snap. Or those who had undiagnosed mental issues.

You even touch on it in your post.

The problem is mental health is a hard nut and very hard to deal with. If you know there is a systemic issue then you deal with it whatever way you can and that unfortunately sometimes affects ordinary people who did nothing wrong.

It's about the greater good and if you can bring in a law to to at least help then.why wouldn't you.

Trump has mentioned mental health several times as have the gop but they have done nothing. They always link mental health issues like you have done to criminals and then we move on to the next shooting and rinse and repeat.

Lads, don't engage with him. He just asked why we don't condemn people who steal guns, as if we celebrate gun thieves by not explicitly stating that it's wrong. Honestly, toffy may be the most clueless whopper we've had on this forum, and he's not exactly short on competition
Your right he will probably just come back and call me a multi. I showed know better.

Imagine being a clueless Australian so engaged in American affairs getting banned and coming back just to be even worse.
