I never condemned those possessing guns legally.
However, if you own a gun and if you don't have it securely stored, you're a grade A moron and a huge part of the problem.

The point I was trying to make is that there are far too many guns in circulation. If you reduce access to legal guns, you will also reduce access to illegal guns.
Massachusetts has strict gun laws (relatively speaking) and it works ok but if you want a gun you just have to drive up to New Hampshire.

There needs to be a federal ban on assault weapons.
There needs to be mandatory federal background checks.
There needs to be limits on how many guns or how much ammunition a private citizen can posess.
There needs to be a voluntary federal buy back programs for existing assault weapons.
The gun show loophole needs to end.

All these ideas have majority support in the US and would all reduce gun crime.
If you're a law abiding gun owner than your gun should never be stolen.

I'll take your word for it. Replace law abiding with responsible then.
yeah, that's the point I was making.
Enact some of the ideas I posted above and you limit the amount of irresponsible gun owners, thus reducing the amount of illegal guns and reducing gun crime.
It's fairly straight forward.
The only reason it isn't happening is because the arms industry has weaponized the second amendment for profit.

It's one of those things that Americans have been lied to about for so long that it is almost impossible to change the perception back to the truth.

Yea, I agree with you there.
When I moved here I couldn't see the point in gun ownership, maybe a farmer with a shotgun or limited hunting rifles but that's it.
Now I've had to come around to the fact that about 1 in 3 of my American friends, in this liberal state with strict restrictions, own hand guns.
I don't think its possible to end gun culture here but it's definitely possible to manage it.
I find it hard to get my head around the fact that 1 million guns have been stolen in this country since Martinez was the boss.

People keep guns under their beds and in drawers in this country. It's absolutely insane. I've seen way too many instances of a gun being stolen and the owner not knowing it was stolen because they weren't sure where it was. Treating them with such little importance is a sickness.
Not to mention the number of babies and kids that get hold of them and shoot either themselves or others.

On Wednesday two 3-year-old boys were shot by another toddler who found and inadvertently fired a gun at the home of their babysitter in Dearborn, Mich., according to the Detroit Free Press. The boys, one of whom was shot in the face and the other in the shoulder, are in stable condition at a hospital.

The Dearborn boys are at least the 42nd and 43rd people to get shot by a child under the age of 4 this year, according to a database of accidental child-involved shootingsmaintained by Everytown, a gun violence prevention group. On average, someone gets shot by an American toddler a little more frequently than once a week, similar to previousyears.

When the NRA have videos telling people armed burglars are going to kick your door in and you should have your gun ready. I'm really not surprised people keep them handy instead of being responsible. Not that its clever and good they do.

Using people's irrational fears to justify guns and promote themselves.

Mental health is a major factor in a lot of these incidents. Amongst other emotional, social and mental related issues.

So too the availability of guns, both legal and illegal.

Nevertheless, it's not law abiding sane people I'd be concerned about being in possession of guns legally, for whatever activity/reason they claim.

Just had a peek at your posting history mate.
