You look at Vegas and think, "hell, there were 800 people injured". TWO people could make that fatalities 1000+. And I would bet my house and my retirement nothing will be done.

Aaaaand yet the definition of the word/phrase "militia" is the issue. THANKS Supreme Court!Yep the right are so entrenched in this debate (lol) that a discussion isn't even an option.
I mean ffs it's harder to get a job, apartment, or a driver's licence than it is to buy a gun. Yet the discussion isn't even valid. The constitution never said a kid could shoot a bunch of other kids with an assault rifle.

An amendment written almost 230 years ago, when the U.S., in its infancy, was still facing the very real prospect of another war with Britain, is surely past its best-before date. Sadly, I don't think anything would change if the child or grandchild of a prominent NRA member happened to be a victim of one of these shootings.
There aren't enough cops to tail every social media hard case who poses with guns or spouts off about doing something like this, likewise there aren't enough mental health professionals to deal with all the teenagers who feel disenfranchised (if that's the right word). The simplest -- and ironically the most difficult -- remedy would be sweeping gun reforms and controls.

Imagine if they ruled it had to be actual bear arms...sucks for the bears and all...but imagine the giant bear farms in this country with folks having it out with furry clawed weapons.
The bear arm lobby would be amazing. PETA's heads would have exploded.
