i like the idea but in reality most people are too shellshocked to think straight. Freeze and hope for the best is probably the easiest reaction if there's no run-away option.

Personally i'd like to think i'd tackle the shooter and then throttle him, but in reality who knows? I've often wondered why we see few fightbacks in such things and it's probably because the modern world has added a new option to the old fight-or-flight instinct...namely freeze.

Oh no question some people will freeze up, but the point of training people in run, hide, fight is to get them used to it as an idea so it'll be a reaction. It's like when a fire alarm goes off, not many people just freeze up, they know what the sound means and what to do. Same thing with this, you train it so it'll be a reaction and hopefully those that freeze, when they see other people running, will start to follow what the group is doing. I like it because in training scenarios it's been shown to be highly effective, way more than locking the door and staying put.
A cop friend of mine has even suggested that you should pull the fire alarm in the event of an active shooter rather than announce a lock down because it'll get people moving outside where they can scatter. The lock down model is more based on the idea that theres an armed intruder looking to shoot one specific person, and if you don't get in their way, they'll leave you alone. It was never meant to protect people against rampage shooters.

Best thing that could happen is for putin to nuke America and wipe them out .... the few survivors would probably shoot each other too instead of seizing the chance of creating a whole new generation of forward thinking people though. Sad that half that country is so backward.
