You can call it stupid all you want; it's accurate. You can't just go on forevermore with the idea of 'revenge' as the mindset for getting into power. You need mediation, discussion, compromise.

The alternative is civil war. Because if you constantly raise the stakes and antagonise at every opportunity, there's no way out for anyone.

As Clinton rightly said, the aim should be "when they go low, we go high" - not go as low as they do in a silly effort at "an eye for an eye".

He might get stuff done. The problem is we really need someone to go all the way. For example Obama and the ACA was an attempt at a truly liberal policy but it got watered down by people not wanting to really go for it and you got an unsustainable program. Now it was still a good and important achievement but we need to get out of this cycle of government being bad because the right purposefully advocates for and enacts bad government and then uses that as an example of why we don't need government.
