Whether moderates can avoid driving out the rising generation — or whether the left continues furiously organizing and demonstrating at the grassroots level, as Osita Nwanevu advocates at The New Republic — may determine whether or not Republicans manage to complete their project of turning America into a one-party state.

Thats basically what I was saying yesterday or two weeks ago(who knows what time is anymore?). The fn party constantly eats it's own. Just so scared of people who stand up and say exactly what they are and have been doing wrong. I'm honestly so sick of how afraid they are of everything.

I once worked in Orange County (California) for six months, in a 'sundown town' until the late '80s (where black people were effectively banned after dark by the local police).

It was a twenty-five minute walk from my flat to the bus stop, and then a 30 minute walk after that to work. The bus came by every 140 minutes.

Cursing America with the fire of a million suns, on the second day I borrowed some money and rented a car.

Americans will give up their houses before they give up their cars, because you can sleep in a car but can't drive a house to work.

But true. I stayed with an American friend many years ago, and before going to bed, I said that I fancied a short walk. My friend's parents looked amazed, and my friend came with me, and she told me that she'd never walked around the streets by her house at this time of night (about 11 pm). This was in a pleasant area on Long Island, not a rough area at all.

Hypocrisy is everywhere. Everyone’s favorite AOC condemned large real estate developers, then used her $170k+/year salary to move into one of those very large luxury developments, complete with things like onsite massage, rooftop pool, and concierge, and then defended being criticized for doing it by saying luxuries like she gets at her complex should be basic human rights. Get out of here with lecturing if you yourself won’t back it up with personal actions. Politicians are the worst.
