It never stops does it. A year of deciding who will run for President then an Age of Presidential electioneering, postal voting, voting in person then never ending counting. Then comes the legal challenges and fortunes to be made by Lawyers, finally deciding who will lead the country, but they don’t get in until January. The outgoing President gives amnesty to all his nefarious mates and finally leaves. The new President gets the White House cleaned and moves in with a completely new team who have to undergo scrutiny before appointment. Then the calls for impeachment start by the losing Party and stop any business getting through, then a year or two later it all starts again.....
I am not pro Trump (as most have gathered!) but the system seems really archaic to me. I am not just blaming the Democrats for that (I actually believe it was Republicans who blocked allowing votes to be counted before, which seems really odd behaviour). However, from the outside it looks like it needs overhaul.
I genuinely can't believe there isn't a single method of voting, across all states. Results start getting announced, while people are still voting elsewhere. That just seems really odd. No idea who it even benefits, which is kind of good, because I can at least be impartial in saying it seems odd.
All of the above can be true, while also acknowledging what Trump is doing is very dangerous. I think it's important to say, to a degree one leads to the other. If you have an opaque system, don't be surprised when a charlatan comes along to try and game that system.
To his credit, Biden seems a very reasonable man. There are lots of reasonable people in the GOP. You hope they can get their heads together, and update a system that looks more akin to the 21st century, Not in a way that benefits either side, something where both sides probably have to give a little on.
The last few days have been a farce really.
