He's not who I would have picked, but I do think in current circumstances, he was the best option to put up against Trump. He is moderate enough (and old white guy enough) to not scare GOP or right leaning independents and allow them to vote for him when Trump is the alternative.

I don't think Sanders or Warren would have increased the number of progressives enough to overcome the visceral GOP/right Indys reaction to a "socialist" or a "anti-corporation female". I think either would have been too much for even the sane GOPers to stomach.

Completely agree. While not ideal Biden is the safest pair of hands in this situation. The fact he also seems pretty clear that he could be a one term President helps as well.

Bring him in to stop the rot and in 4 years hopefully move on to someone more progressive
