indeed. maybe that's why Biden winning barely but surely would be the best result for progressives. We surely don't want him to be too relaxed and just enjoy 4 years being someone not named Donald J. Trump. He cannot just rely on that, he has to change the US. Otherwise other Trumps will surely arrive.

Well that's sort of the problem with Biden being such a mediocre candidate. He's the danger of being "establishment continued" and, yes, opening the door to the far right again and a "competent Trump" in 5-10 years from now.

The focus from him shouldn't be on identity politics and pandering to the left, just as it's wrong that Trump's focus has been pandering to the right - two wrongs don't make a right. Instead, it should be on the economy - making the lives of the less well off better across the spectrum. Because a poor economy breeds resentment.

He most certainly will feel he needs to do bare minimum to be looked apon fondly as the trump detroner. He will feel he has free rain to do his donors biding. Never mind carry out his war hawk pursuits considering no one in America seems to be giving a flying one about that on either side. Which history will look back on it with shame like we do about slavery.

On a positive note. Let’s hope the people raise the bar and not judge Biden by the standards set by Trump.

Has to be a ‘right we got that disaster of a man out but we are sick of this BS mentality’

Cause as you said another trump will swing around when They wanna change from Democrats brand of right wing to the Republicans.

What I mean is don’t let Trump’s exit from the White House be an opiate

It will be in itself. At least with Biden, the challenges will more or less resemble the systemic and social challenges that have plagued the US for decades. With Trump, those problems were amped up with a million new ones thrown in for good measure. Nobody is excited about a Biden presidency, but they are excited to rid themselves of undoubtedly the worst president in its history, and so they should be

I agree, throw a party, pull a 3 dayer. Call in sick Monday. The right wing cartoon character is gone. But then take a few solpadiene. And use what had just happened to be more organized as a working class to break the systematic sociological chain.

Not just because we will get Bush 2.0 or Trump 2.0 next time but because it’s all BS. Reverting back to type as you said.

How would pandering to the right be as bad as doing so to the left?! It’s a moot point anyways as there exists barely any mainstream left wing movement in the US and i doubt Biden will pay it any attention.

I mean the "social justice" causes. It'll alienate an awful lot of people if he tries to simply be the "anti-Trump".

He's got to unify people by making them better off, not divide people further.

You can be sure the GOP will

As early voting breaks records across the U.S., political analysts and campaigns are reviewing reams of data on the voters, looking for clues to key questions: Who is voting? And who is winning?

On one level, the answers can be simple. Registered Democrats are outpacing registered Republicans significantly — by 14 percentage points — in states that are reporting voters’ party affiliation, according to an Associated Press analysis of the early vote.

But that doesn’t tell the whole story. Many Americans’ choices don’t align with their party registration. Meanwhile, polls show Republicans have heeded President Donald Trump’s baseless warnings about mail voting, and large numbers intend to vote on Election Day. That means the early Democratic surge could give way to a Republican surge on Tuesday.

The picture is further clouded by the unprecedented nature of how Americans are voting. While Democrats are hungry for signs that key parts of their coalition — young voters, Black voters, new voters — are engaged, comparisons to 2016 are difficult. Here’s a closer look at what we know — and don’t know — about early voters:
