indeed. maybe that's why Biden winning barely but surely would be the best result for progressives. We surely don't want him to be too relaxed and just enjoy 4 years being someone not named Donald J. Trump. He cannot just rely on that, he has to change the US. Otherwise other Trumps will surely arrive.
Well that's sort of the problem with Biden being such a mediocre candidate. He's the danger of being "establishment continued" and, yes, opening the door to the far right again and a "competent Trump" in 5-10 years from now.
The focus from him shouldn't be on identity politics and pandering to the left, just as it's wrong that Trump's focus has been pandering to the right - two wrongs don't make a right. Instead, it should be on the economy - making the lives of the less well off better across the spectrum. Because a poor economy breeds resentment.
