Joe Biden tonight was essentially like a team going into the second leg of a Champions League tie with a 3-0 lead. Trump may have eaked out a 1-0 win on the night, but ultimately that (hopefully) isn’t what he really needed to do.
One day we will go into a Champions League game and be happy losing 1-0 in the second leg.

I honestly think he did :S
He didn't though. The fact is that both you and a few others keep saying that and the main argument is which one of them is more lucid
tells you how pointless and non decisive these have become. Trump staying on point and not going of script is the least you would expect from any candidate. Why he gets lauded for it.

Four people from four parts of the US have explained to you how he has done himself no harm including someone who lives in Texas pretty much debunk your comment about the oil comments.

Winning a debate tonight means nothing. The very fact people look to see who wins says it all.

Again most people know who there voting for and this will have done nothing to sway that.

Given most of the points had nothing to do with issues in swing states there is nothing for them to talk about and decide.

Thats simply what it is about. Many states have had a massive jump in early voters already long before tonight.

Trump needs key demographics none of which he has done anything tonight to sway.

Those 150k have families and its a state where a few thousand votes could swing it.

It's a big deal, it's why people have picked up on it instantly.
Agree that can make a difference with anyone undecided - think Sanders/Warren saying they wanted to abolish private health care had an impact on the primary for those states with high % of people who worked in the healthcare sector.

The open question though is how many of those working in the oil/gas field were undecided prior to tonight?

I imagine not many given Biden has been fairly clear on his stance with regards to fossil fuels

Perhaps with a narrow few who were going to vote for Trump anyway.

Those of us with memories from the 1980s when oil prices cratered and the entire state went belly up recognize the dependence on oil for our economic future is folly. Tech alone drives more new jobs and economic growth in the future than the extraction and refining of oil.
Yup, I think most realize the oil industry is the new tobacco industry.
Hummers new EV was all over my social media today.
if GMs producing an electric hummer, things are changing.

Exactly that killed Sanders in many states.

Not ever divulging his plan other than to say he would get rid of insurance companies was a big no no.

Not the media bias like some kept saying here.

And agreed I bet many who work in the oil industry already vote conservative.

In any case many of those oil companies now own alternative energy companies too. I bet many of their staff were retrained too.

I know for sure two mining giants sent some of their staff on computer programming courses and then laid them off several years back.

That's just it. Politicians and money men will have you believe the left are evil but thats just to serve a purpose and line their pockets now. But the people actually running these companies know full well technology and alternative is the future.

The amount of places I have installed technology you would never expect to see.

The amount of conferences and meetings with old school guys enlightening them how much better off they would be with technology.

Anything to cut costs and look to the future and stay rich and they are on board.

This ultimately will be the downfall for old school Republicans.
