Huge mistake from Biden.

"It doesn't matter what you pay them" in relation to the oil industry.

And Trump capitalised. That'll hit hard in Texas etc.
No, it won't. Texas leads the country by a factor of 4 in the utilization and development of wind energy. Solar job development rivals that of new oil jobs in Texas.

Pandering to Texas as though we are beholden to the petrochemical industry isn't going to have the same effect as coal in West Virginia.

trump needs suburban women.
telling them separated kids are in lovely places was a terrible move.
Ah but he won the debate don't you know and Biden is unstable and unsuitable so he will easily win right?

Trump could have a heart attack on stage and people will still say Biden looks unfit and Trumps won.

When debates don't actually matter anymore. Especially when one of the candidates is Trump

A few areas where I think Biden messed up.

1 - Very weak on his past record. Whenever Trump challenged him on his 8 years in office as VP, he had no answer and looked totally flummoxed, allowing Trump to do what he does best; paint himself as the anti-establishment candidate despite being the incumbent.

2 - His tinned responses were worryingly flat and offputting. Again, nobody will believe what he's saying because they've heard it before. Trump is obviously factually wrong on nearly everything, but he speaks with an impetus and belief; Biden does on rare occasions when he's off script and angry, which is actually when he's at his best.

3 - The oil industry comments... eek. Any chance of Texas has probably just gone, as campaign ads for Trump should make mincemeat out of him now. Ohio is now a big doubt too.

4 - He somehow lost to Trump on the coronavirus section. That should have been impossible, but he came across as a "Captain Hindsight" politician.

He did well on immigration, got better generally as the thing progressed but overall lost it handily.

Now do Trump.

I get you don't like him (Trump) and for you dissecting the side you are on is what you focus on.

So take the same approach is all I am asking for.

Do you know any old men? All they do is check the time.

Maybe he's checking to see if he still has time for the early bird special.

Maybe he's bored listening to Trump.

Maybe he's checking to see when he has to take his next pill.

He certainly doesn't look defeated.
Weeknight Matlock reruns at 11.

Sure.

1 - He disintegrated towards the end. It started with the immigration and race relations questions and from then on he was rattled and reverted to form, looking to interrupt and trying his macho tactics. When he does, Biden responds organically off-script and wins points.

2 - His comment on kids his own policies orphaned at the border "being well looked after" was one of the worst things ever uttered by a politician.

3 - His propensity for delusion keeps letting him down - saying "I'm the least racist person in this room" to a black woman is ridiculous. "I've done more for the black community than any president since Lincoln" is ludicrous. Even his base roll their eyes at this stuff, and swing voters who may have temporarily been put under his spell will have been snapped back to reality several times.

But generally I can't criticise as much with him as he won the debate in my view. I wish he hadn't, but he did.
