SUNDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER 2PM KO
WOMENS SUPER LEAGUE
BRISTOL CITY WOMEN 0 EVERTON WOMEN 4

After a massive 196 days [28 weeks] since the last Everton Women's game, that been there Debut game at Walton Park on the 23rd Feb, the Girls were finally back into the real action of the WSL after 4 Friendlys - the last two both Ending 5-0 to Everton home v Durham [Walton Park & Blackburn [Finch Farm]

They came up against Bristol City women away, who were one of their final 3 opponents and last away game before the virus struck [Everton won 5-0 away in the cup] - [oddly they play Spurs next week at Walton Park who were one of the other 2], but in the League Everton have had a mixed recent record v Bristol City in the top Flight with that win in mid september last year which actually put them top for a few hours were Chloe Kelly scored 2 goals in a minute, one of which was that wonder strike been the only Everton win in the last 5 top flight games, Everton have won in the cup and the lower leagues v Bristol but Everton have actually only lost more games to Man City and Arsenal than Bristol City

Everton have also only won one of there opening day games from the last 7, that comming away to Birmingham last year winning 1-0 , 4 of those last 7 have been defeats and for the 3rd year in a row they started away - The last opening day game at home was actually v Liverpool 3 years ago

Everton had a number of Star Summer Signings making there Debut as well as finally getting Aus Superstar Hayley Raso and England International Izzy Christiansen both January signings, 5 in total finally making their competitive Debut's with 3 been subs with Egurrola close to comming out of quarantine

Everton began quite well and should have really been 1 up in 90 seconds when a cross from the right from Captain Lucy Graham was headed wide by Sorensen, but the reward for the early pressure didnt take long when on 6mins Everton took the lead with a super volleyed finish from Simone Magil After Graham's skilful back heel over the top of the City backline , On 12mins it was nearly 2 when Lucy Graham turned and shot just wide of the post, but it was 2-0 on 19mins after a lovely well worked counter attacking move from back to front, Lucy Graham finishing off a excellent cross from the left from Sorensen. Everton continued to pile the pressure on with shots from Clemaron 20 yards out just over and sorensen who was caught in 2 minds, Lucy Graham then missed a sitter really on 32mins when a free header was right at the keeper from another excellent angled cross when only yards out, but Everton were very much in control of that 1st half and pretty Dominant to be fair, a half in which Bristol City struggled for chances and Everton will be very happy with the 1st half performance.with 2 excellent goals.

No surprise Everton made no Subs for the start of the 2nd half and it was close to been 3-0 on 48mins when a high hit and hope cross from Raso hit the bar, we then went down the other end after what should have been a foul for Everton and bristol City finally had a shot from Humphrey's who shot from distance is easy for MacIver, Bristol then had another chance from Purfield's dipping strike which make it awkward for MacIver in the Everton goal who saved with her knees, But Everton then got a pen on 61mins when Simone Magill was brought down after a bad touch from the Bristol defender who then trying to get it back made the foul, Lucy Graham steped up and hammered home the pen of the underside of the bar for her 2nd of the game for the 2nd game in a row against her former team, Everton then made a triple sub with Emslie and french forward Gauvin comming on for there debuts with Boy-Hlorkah the 3rd of those then having a great chance with a header that was right at the keeper, Poppy pattinson then came on to make her debut late v the team she just left in the summer, she was the 1st of the summer signings and that meant all 8 of the signings in todays squad had made there debut, It became 4-0 Everton in the final minute when Graham found Guavin her just inside the box and she fired low in the far corner past Baggaley. The Everton keeper made a late decent save to keep a clean sheet but 4 goals and a quite excellent display was the least the Girls deserved

Quality that !! Thank you.....fantastic investment in the squad over the summer, and you made the point earlier in the thread regarding not overlooking the impact of the two new players coming in in January. Technically very decent, and great to see the women's game get exposure with a TV deal here in the US this season on a relatively mainstream channel (the more cynical folks might point to this being to fill a void if NBC screw up moving a bulk of the EPL games to a "streaming" service this time around). Anyway, thanks for keeping tabs on the women's team, and hopefully they'll have a great season. Very impressive today !!

Yeah new deal in USA,Canada, we were live in Australia just to name a few places and yes we were brilliant today, the pressure was on us to perform after all the new signings, this was no easy game but we made it look so easy nearly the whole match 4-0 could have been 6/7/8, we have a good looking start to the league, but its only a good looking start if you take advantage of it-still not easy games though.

Highlights of the 4-0 win-basically just the goals, with not even half the chances we missed shown

Cheers for the thread mate - I Thought the Blue women looked class today, some of the new signings were very good. Here's hoping the men and women do great things this season.

Away Kit looked amazing as well, especially with the reverse socks (mainly blue with the yellow).

UTFTW!
