Everton kept their FA Women’s Super League 2 promotion hopes alive with a crucial 3-1 win at rivals Durham Wildcats.

First-half headers from Gabby George and Claudia Walker set them on their way to a ninth win of the season, with Emily Davies' spectacular third putting the seal on it to cut the gap to Bristol to two points with two games left.

Beth Hepple's stunning chip gave Durham hope but their challenge is now over after a fine campaign.

Everton played some good football at New Ferens Park but it was their aerial prowess which proved vital.

They went in front in the eighth minute when Michelle Hinnigan's drive from the edge of the box hammered off the crossbar with the alert George nodding the rebound wide of Helen Alderson's dive.

And the advantage was doubled in the 26th minute when Walker's textbook header from Krystle Johnston's ball nestled in the net.

Everton could have had the points in the bag by half-time, but Hinnigan saw Alderson make a diving save from a header and then went inches wide with a shot.

Nine minutes from half time, Durham were back in it as Hepple lobbed Kirstie Levell from 30 yards.

Everton had the best openings of the second half when Walker sent Johnston clear only for the ex-Sunderland winger to shoot wide, while Alderson made a superb low save from an Ellie Stewart header.

And the Toffees had the last say deep in stoppage time when Davies netted a beauty from distance just seconds after coming on.

Everton Ladies welcome Bristol City to the Select Security Stadium on Sunday 29 October as the bid for promotion to WSL 1 hots up – and they need your support.

As a special thank you to those who have followed the Blue Girls across the season, and to ensure they are have as many Evertonians backing them as possible against the Vixens, they are offering free entry to the game.

As things stand, Everton sit third in WSL 2 – two points off second-placed City and leaders Yeovil – with the top two teams in the division earning promotion. It's been a season of highs - beating Yeovil 3-0 and Bristol 1-0 - and lows for Andy Spence's Toffees, who also picked the brains of world champion boxer Tony Bellew for tips in their bid for a return to WSL 1.

They will end their campaign on 6 November away at London Bees, who currently sit in fifth.

All you need to do to claim your free ticket for the game against Bristol is click here, fill out your details and your print-at-home ticket will be emailed to you in time for the game.

“Our fans have always been there to support us and both myself and the players are hugely appreciative of that,” said Spence. “We have been working very hard to ensure we are fully prepared for what we know will be a very tough game against Bristol. We go into it with a lot of confidence from our win over Durham last time out, and our previous victory over them back in August.

“We need to be at our best and the Evertonians who come to support us push us on to do as well as we can. Hopefully there will be a bumper crowd to help us put in a match-winning performance.

But back to this game and after a decent start our girls fell behind to a goal from Claire Emslie on 26mins, a 20 odd yard swerving shot from just outside the box that beat our keeper,it was not long though before we drew level on 30mins,when Everton Ladies were awarded a pen for a shirt pull on 30mins,claudia walker with the bottle to take and score it,everton were not to far from taking the lead just before ht when jones had a dipping volley just over, but seconds later everton were forced to clear off the line from farrow,it was 1-1 at half time

the 2nd half began and just 7mins into it,Bristol city women were ahead via farrow who after a bad back past by everton, she scored on her return from injury,6mins later it could have been 3 for Bristol but for our keeper who made 2 quick fire saves,on 60mins everton had the chance to draw level but Vicky Jones hit her shot wide when very well placed,on 67mins our captain Hinninigan had a header wide,

but on 69 mins,Bristol got the 3rd from Emslie after mazy run from the half way line and a finish into the corner of the net from 20 yards,LATER ON AND WITH 5MINS TO GO EVERTON PULLED A GOAL BACK WITH DANIELLE TURNER scoring a tap in ON 85 after a save from the bristol keeper,5mins were added on for injury time and on 92 mins everton were so close to drawing level when Ayane's free-kick dropped onto the top of the bar,and INCREDIBLY EVERTON WERE AWARDED A PEN IN THE LAST MIN OF INJURY TIME WERE CLAUDIA WALKER ONLY WENT AND SEEM HER SPOT KICK SAVED ONTO THE POST,that was the last action of the game and as the final whistle went, and as expected Bristol city celebrated been promoted infront of a crowd of 917

Everton now need YEOVIL to lose tomorrow to London Bees or Everton will be in the 2nd tier for another season-even a yeovil draw is probably good enough for them as they have a better GD of 4 goals, and even then if yeovil lose tomorrow,YEOVIL would also have to lose there last game and EVERTON LADIES WOULD HAVE TO BEAT LONDON BEES NEXT WEEKEND TO GAIN PROMOTION, and the new season wont start till next september either as its come into line with the mens season, there will be a 3 month league from feb till may i think it is next year to pass the big gap from this season ending next week to the new season in september,

SUNDAY 6TH NOVEMBER

LONDON BEES 3 EVERTON LADIES 4

After last weeks heartbreak of failing to win a game that would have left promotion in the girls own hands on what was the final day of the womens wsl 2 season,Everton Ladies pulled off a quite brilliant win after comming from 3-1 down to win 4-3 at the bees ground,
the game only burst into life with the 1st goal not arriving till the 62th min of the match when Jo wilson give them the lead, but mins later on 65 mins our girls were level via claudia walkers low shot that just about bobbled in the net,and then just like our men yesterday the girls then went and conceeded 2 goals in less than 2 mins when wilson got her 2nd,and 3rd goals on 70/71mins for her 13th/14th goals of the season, but it was game on 2mins later when on 73mins Danielle Turner got the comeback on track,on 82 we were level when Ellie stewart wacked a free kick in from the edge of the area to make it 3-3,and the final goal and what was the winner in the last match of the season to complete the comeback came 2mins from the end on 88 from Gabby Geogre to complete the 4-3 win,and meant we ended the season 3rd, 5 points from the auto promotion,so we were basically a win away last week from been back in the top wsl league,,,the league now goes to a summer league next season and wont start till septemeber, with a months break in december, till then a new league will begin in feb -june to pass time by
