SUNDAY 17TH JULY

EVERTON LADIES 3 YEOVIL TOWN LADIES 0

In typical Everton style, and after losing the last 2 games v the bottom 2 v teams who the girls should beat, they faced the leaders who were top scorers by a distance and had 6 wins/1 draw from last 7,and it was our girls who came away with a brilliant win and our 1st league win in 4 games, in what was a magnificent performance we were 2 up within the 1st 17 mins to players scoring there 1st goals for the club, the 1st goal came after 9 mins when a defensive header was not cleared away far enough and fell to chloe kelly who beat yeovil keeper howard in the bottom corner with a great finish,it was 2 not long after on 17 mins when Beth Howard didnt deal with a corner, the ball falling to Ayane who turned it into the net-following the 2nd goal the yeovil girls got into a team hurdle that didnt make any difference to how our girls were playing,it was close to been 3-0 a few times in the next few mins, but the 3rd goal didnt take long to come,a pen was awarded on 33 mins when kelly was brought down for the pen,she scored the resulting pen,it was so close to 4 just before ht when the yeovil keeper made a quick double save from kelly and walker, but the 1st half ended with us 3up.

The 2nd half was quiet really compared to the 1st with Everton just defending the few half chances Yeovil had, though the yeovil keeper made an excellent late save infront of a crowd of 333,the next game for the girls is now away to 2nd bottom oxford who won 3-2 after been 2 down to watford women, that game is next sunday at 2pm

SUNDAY 24TH JULY

OXFORD UNITED WOMEN 0 EVERTON LADIES 1

3rd placed Everton Ladies took on 2nd bottom Oxford Women, and with the troubles the girls seem to be having beating the lower end teams, this was a welcome win and a vital one at that with the top 2 previously already winning there games over the weekend,it took a late goal 13 mins from time on 77 mins to gain the 3 points and keep everton ladies in touch with the top 2, though our girls have 2 games in hand on both, the goal was a scrappy one and came from our 19 year old winger/forward emily hollinshead who scored her 4th goal of the season via a bundled in corner at the back post-she had only been on the pitch a few mins, she made her welsh debut early last year, just mins later the very same thing nearly happened again but this time the oxford keeper saved the day, next game for our girls is home to sheff wed ladies on saturday night with 6pm ko

SATURDAY 30TH JULY

EVERTON LADIES 1 SHEFFIELD LADIES 1

Well wouldnt you know it again, everton play a team a bit more down the league and go and mess up again in the race for auto promotion, auto promotion been ending in the top 2,and end up further away from the auto places after this 1-1 draw with 2 games in hand, but points are more important comming to this late stage,it was all going well in the 1st half with the everton girls way on top and we got the goal on around 20mins that the girls deserved,it came from a corner that Michelle Hinnigan took with Millie Turner beating the keeper to the ball and giving a 1-0 lead at half time.

2nd half was at times as they say a game of 2 halves, and sheffield came out playing a lot better and just 2 mins into the half sheffield drew level with hannah dale scoring with a neat powerful strike beating the everton ladies keeper levell, everton huffed and puffed 2nd half to no avail but sheffiled could have been 2-1 ahead with 20 to go when Jones hit the post with an effort with Michalska somehow missing the rebound,it ended 1-1 at full time,

The girls have 7 league games left and the next game is v Durham on august 14th and the girls are now playing one game every 2 weeks, bar a 3 week gap in oct, to then have a week gap to the last game in last week,in the 1st week of november.

SUNDAY 14TH AUGUST

EVERTON LADIES 1 DURHAM WOMEN 1

Infront of a crowd of 280,Everton once again failed to gain 3 points, when they were needed more than ever to be close to the auto promotion places, this is now 2 draws in a row after 2 wins in a row,and the gap from were we are in 3rd to 2nd is now 5 points with us having a game in hand, our girls fell behind to a goal from Roberts who only signed for Durham last month, when she lobbed everton keeper brooks who replaced keeper levell in the starting line up on 15mins,levell been a sub, everton had a number of chances again not just this 1st half but most of the game, and even had 2 shots cleared off the line 1st half, one of them been walker who should have also had a pen late in the 1st half for what looked like a certain pen,

2nd half was much the same with everton having mostly all the attacks trying to gain the leveller, which Hinnigan headed home from a johnson cross on 74mins,you might have thought that with the pressure everton had shown ,that they might go on and get the late winner they deserved, but the game ended 1-1,and this now makes it even harder than what it is trying to gain auto promotion,

The next game for Everton Ladies is again after another 2 week break via 2nd placed Bristol city women, were the everton girls have no choice but to win really,as a win for Bristol would give them a 8 point lead over us with us having only 5 games left,on the other hand a win for us would put it in our hands.

SATURDAY 27TH AUGUST
BRISTOL CITY WOMEN 0 EVERTON LADIES 1

In what was a must win game to keep the pace at the top,and gain auto promotion via the top 2 and after the latest 2 week break,Everton Ladies gained what was a very vital win in this top of the table clash,2nd placed Bristol Women UNBEATEN AT HOME THIS SEASON would have had a big advantage at the top with Yeovil women over us,and it surely would have been curtains for us in reaching the top tier,it was a Chloe Kelly pen which was a bad call by the ref [2 dodgy pens in a day hey] for some, but chloe struck the pen pretty well to put us ahead and win it in the end.

our next game again after another 2 week break is, v Oxford united women at home on the 11th septemeber

could be the biggest win of the season, needed this win today big time, could have ended the weekend 8 points behind 2nd/10 points behind 1st [with game in hand],we play the current leaders in 2 games time-which is in a month, plus have to play Bristol women again, big gaps in between games till the last week

Yes, looking at the fixtures a couple,of tough games away to come. I guess it still being in our hands is better than expecting others to lose.
Go Girls!
