Quite brilliant speech.

Totally clarity relating to the choice facing the country, isolationism and austerity under the Conservatives with a massively disruptive and unnecessary referendum versus Labour, protection of public services and a vote for social and economic inclusion.

Very powerful speech from Blair. Clarity, conviction, reason.

Not a huge admirer because of the Iraq debacle but credit where credit is due.

unnecessary referendum

Cant disagree with him there. But Iraq, him wanting to join the Euro, and him wasting the majority he had in his first term all count against in my book.

But a very good speaker, and as you say, head and shoulders above the shower we seem to be landed with. Or is it me getting on?!!

....without wanting to open the proverbial can of worms, much of the relative calm in N Ireland and on the mainland is a legacy of his time. I'm not suggesting this was achieved without some pain but it was a very different position when he came to power.

Certainly ... along with a quite remarkable moment of vision from the Rev Dr Paisley.

True. He was PM at the time, but a lot of spadework was done well before him. On both sides, and from Clinton. But he got them over the line.
