In 2014, 4.9 million (92.6 per cent) working age benefit claimants were British while only 131,000 (2.5 per cent) were EU nationals. (The Telegraph)

They're crippling the country I tell ya!

My reply was to Joey who raised the point of the House of Plenty, happen you should direct your post to him with those stats.

Most people from the EU are on low paid jobs - a drain on our infrastructure housing - NHS- etc etc work the cost of that out - that's why our Gps are going abroad!

According to the DWP..........As of February 2011, there were 5.5m people receiving working-age benefits. Some 371,000 of those were foreign nationals when they first came to the UK, representing 6.4% of the claimants.

So if we compare your figures from 2014 and the DWP figures for 2011 it looks like the coalition are on the right track....

Doesn't sound like 'the house of the plenty' if the best you can get is a low paid job, Joey.

Well, no. I was referring to Joey's claim of EU immigrants, so I quoted the EU immigrant stats. Read my stats again, 92.6 + 2.5 doesn't make 100. The remaining percentage accounts for Non-EU immigrants.

The number of recipients from outside of the UK — but not from the EU — was 264,000 (five per cent).

Ultimately, 92.6% of working-age benefit claimants are British, while 7.6% are Non-British (only 2.5% of these come from the EU countries). This shows that the largely held view of EU immigrants costing us lots of money through benefits is a myth. The issue is overstated in the rags and by the right-wing politicians.

You fail to answer the overcrowding of our country, and the drain on resources, it's not the N H S it's the free for all International health service!
Which has been disastorous top turned down by DC another pledge he broke which cost 3 billion!
DC is the biggest Billy liar than Tony Blair!

You miss the point - the jobs are advertised only in the EU - no chance of a UK worker applying for it- the UK Citizen is being treated unfairly - the benefits are paid to all people who work not alledged scrounges as you put it!
The UK economy has grew via quantities easing to the extent of for every pound earned the B O E has minted 24 pounds to ease it - oh, the economy was doing better till the universal world bank crash which the Torys blame on the last Government!
To brag about our thriving economy now comparing it with the rest of the E U which with the Euro is in meltdown is pathetic!

Excuse me? When did I ever call anybody a 'scrounger'? I simply stated that those of the working age benefit receiving numbers, very very few of them come from the EU.

Since you seem keen to move away from JSA and into working tax credits, which top up a low wage, I can give you those figures as well. 6.4% of working tax credit recipients come from the EU. Again, just as with JSA, very low.

So who are the problem, Joey? I mentioned very few EU migrants receive JSA and you tell me that's not the problem, it's working benefits and the NHS. If they work they pay taxes and are more than eligible to receive NHS care. They have as much right to it as you and I.

That's what you implied, any stats for the illegal immigrants as you seem to be full of the tory dogma of tory papers ideology
Harry Enfield did a character on you he called you Tory boy!

You have no idea of my political beliefs. You'd be hard pressed to find a Tory claiming that immigrants aren't as much a drain on our finances as one would believe.

Your immigration ideals are in line with what UKIP are proposing, check it out.
