How do you know that?? Because there average age is a bit higher; it has nothing to do with anything. You can get a team of World Class players, who are under (as you put it) peak age and still not win anything. You could get a team of over 30's, with no internation experience and win the CL; Greece are a perfect example by winning the European Championship.
And Porto where a group of players the Mourinho assembled, it had nothing to do with reaching their peak because it could have all back fired if they hadn't of jelled together; and i think thats the main point your missing. Players have to compliment each other to gain success thats why I don't believe Ancelotti needs to spend big buck, he knows what he wants, he knows what a player in a certain position needs to do whether that player costs £1million of £30million.

Porto had a comparatively young side who were hungry to prove themselves and could still develop, whereas the majority of PSG's squad won't get any better. Name me a team of over 30s with no international experience who have even come close to winning the CL.
You do sometimes get freak results but even the Greek side who won Euro 2004 contained players with top level experience:
Vryzas had played for Perugia and Fiorentina.
Charisteas was at Werder Bremen.
Katsouranis was at AEK Athens and went on to Benfica.
Zagorakis had played in the Premier League under Martin O'Neill.
Stelios had spent a year in England's top division with Bolton.
Fyssas was at Benfica.
Dellas had been with Perugia and Roma.
Seitaridis was at Porto.
Even those who weren't playing in the top divisions were gaining CL experience with the likes of Panathinaikos, AEK Athens and Olympiacos.
Team chemistry does play a part but the bit that you're missing is QUALITY. Everton's team dynamic is probably one of the best that you will find anywhere but even if we were given wildcard entry into the Champion's League every year for the next 20 years we'd need to really fluke it to stand any chance of winning the thing.
