I think it's a snub to the families of the 96, the pic with 3 kits had the torches on, but the real deal doesn't ?

seems it's not eternal after all to some.

the gates not on I get, and doubt if Shankly's family expected anything else eventually, given his treatment whilst alive.

Just gone back to that mate from the towns crest, it's The Wiggin Tree, I think Latics fans see it as being different from the Rugby.... who they hate with passion.

Without going into the controversy over the 96 things being removed, to me it makes sense for the Viet Cong to revert to a "strong brand identifier" or whatever a marketing person might call it. Personally, I'd do the same with ours - the Tower is drawn wrong, and the 'Everton' emblazoned at the top of the crest is too weak, imo. I'd like to see the crest we have from the mid80s. No messing with that one.

Agreed, this should be the badge on our kit. And jib off the Everton underneath it, I hate that.

I totally agree that the badge from the 80's looks much better. I doubt many outside England would recognize that badge though. The big Everton written underneath must be for brand recognition.
