Tell me about the 1985-86 season

Totally OT but things were just different in 70's everywhere. When I wasn't in school, my parents would pretty much expect me to be out of the house on my own until it got dark. Our parents didn't think twice about us managing on our own or with our mates with out them around. Very different days now.

Oh thats for sure! Even more OT, whats the deal with those girls in Cleveland FFS?

The season before this was when I started getting into football- I was only 5 years old but wanted to get the results and was always saying that I was Graeme Sharp when having a kick about.

A large number of my family are reds and it really is weird that I became a blue- even at a young age I knew the difference between them- Im the only blue nose in my entire family.

That team in the 80's gave me a few bragging rights and its not something we have come close to since.

John and frank Kenny's place , loved it there . That sneaky back door to avoid the queues where in the 90's duncan basically lived at the end of the bar and all those barmaids . That boozer just never shut , Can you seriously imagine if the news of the world had got into that place ?

Things I remember from that season -
Unlike most, I really liked the kit.
Lineker was amazing and if we had someone with half his goals now we would be top 3!
We played some terrific football.
Southall got injured and we missed him a lot. Mimms did ok like, but he was no Nev!
Not only did we somehow let Liverpool win the league we capitulated at Wembley in the FA Cup final to them too.
Lineker left us and I was even further heartbroken.
The fact we finished runners up twice spurred us on to regain the title.

I quite liked the kit myself.
Like I said I wasn't a huge lineker fan , I thought our style of football suffered but I might be biased though as the old school legends we had weren't too keen on him.
We got some great wins but I thought the football wasn't a patch on the year before .
