I’m not advocating him btw...

BUT how on earth can anyone say he’s not good enough?! NONE of us know this. NONE of us are educated/ knowledgable enough on this guy to make such assumptions.

Just because he’s from Portugal and currently managing in China are not reasons to state he’s not good enough.

Looking at the list of clubs he’s managed on Wiki doesn’t mean he’s not good enough!

Look at Potter at Brighton for instance. I bet if you looked at his record on paper you’d of thought the same. He’s doing a good job at Brighton.

Again, I’m not saying Pereira is us our saviour, but I’m certainly not qualified enough to deem him ‘not good enough’ either, and neither are any of you.

Get a grip

4 league titles and 4 cups in the last 8 years half of which were with Porto but not good enough for Everton according to some.

He wouldn't be my first choice either but you would think this guy was Mark Hughes reading some of the comments on here which he very obviously is not.

Truth is, every manager is going to be a gamble no matter who they are or what they have achieved and all we can hope is that it works out well for us whoever ends up getting the job and as long as that person is not Moyes. lol

i get where you coming from, but Spurs still took a risk, and it worked out. we took a risk and it blew up in our face, Chelsea took a risk with frank and its kinda going ok i guess,

same with players,

who knows what happens, it may make sense on paper like Unai to Arsenal, but failed hard. i think most of these foreign appointments (other than stellar talent) is hit and miss, and you never know.

fair point mate. Anyone is hit and miss. I think people are just fed up of all the previous mistakes.

Don’t get the fascination with average Portuguese managers with no track record
If he was any good he wouldn’t be in China.
Others like Rafael went for the money AFTER they have proved their credibility in big leagues.
We should go all on for a proven manager
Ancellotti if available after tonight would be my choice.
Martinez , Silva had no decent track record and failed , I’ve a feeling Vitor will as well.
What’s Zorro up to these days ??

Carlos Carvalhal about Vitor Pereira

Speaking to Sky Sports News (10/12/19 13:20 pm), Carvahal shared his thoughts on Pereira, what Everton fans can expect and how good his English is.
"About Vitor, he is a very good manager," Carvalhal told Sky Sports. "He is that kind of manager that is a winner. He's very organised and a workaholic in the job. He lives 24 hours in football. He likes to play with high pressure. He likes to play with the ball. His defences are usually organised. So far, he is having a fantastic career.
"He was champion in Portugal in very difficult circumstances at that moment with Porto. He did well with Olympiacos. He was champion in China with a club that didn't win the Championship for a long time. He's a very, very good manager. If Everton should [go for] Vitor Pereira, it would be very good for both. For Everton and to Vitor Pereira.
"I talk with him sometimes, he had the opportunity to go to China. To China, he had a good challenge there. It wasn't just about money. It was a challenge that club could be champion. I know, he needs a lot of adrenaline. I think it will be not now in a short time, he wants to work in England. For sure because of the adrenaline of the competition. You don't have more adrenaline than English football - he speaks very well [on his English] - he's fluent and he speaks really well.

lets get it right

Rafael went to china because no one else wanted him, he was at Newcastle FFS

Rafael has been irrelevant for years

Vitor wouldn't be my first choice either but slating one for being in china and then excusing the other is daft

my first pick is marcelino but I have a feeling arsenal will want him

I’m not an expert on him at all but his CV isn’t very convincing.

Contract mutually terminated at Olympiakos and fenerbache and then got 1860 Munich relegated....you can’t blame people for not being very enthused by that.

Potter on the other hand, whilst he was managing at a lower level in Sweden he did a very good job with his team. Took them from Swedish 4th division to being in Europa league, you can’t compare the two at all

I think you can draw comparisons.

In as much as fans seem to take one look at wiki and decide he’s not good enough. They’d of made that same assumption of Potter, possibly worse!

Pereira has nearly a 60% win average across all clubs managed. I agree his German stint doesn’t look great, but he’s performed and got results everywhere else.

Hey guys, I mostly post on TW but thought I'd join in here. I spent (past tense) a lot of time in Portugal and know Portuguese football. I know a fair bit about Vitor Pereira. So I thought I'd join the party!

Do you guys know he was sentenced to Prison in Greece for 8 months for inciting a riot? There is youtube footage I can post of this incident.
There's the Suadi Arabia press conference - I spik da tru!
There's the Portuguese game of the decade when Porto scored a last minute winner to bring Jorge Jesus literally to his knees as Porto came from behind to win the game and the league!
There's his record for the last 8 seasons, 4 times champions and 3 times second and once *ahem* relegated.
The guy might not be the best coach, but he is an absolute nutcase.

Usmanov is gonna love that - he's going to war against Kroenke with Marcelino as the prize

Rafael would not have been out of work for long if he had of stayed in England
He done very well with a poor Newcastle squad and a tightwad of an owner.
I wouldn’t want him here but he’s still a very good manager

Mate how did he do very well with Newcastle I don't get it? He done sound he done what Sam allardyce done witg us

Kept us up easily playing dull negative football with a poorish team

Steve Bruce has inherited basically the exact same squad and has them comfortably mid table

I'm Not saying Rafael is a bad manager either but people don't half over exaggerate the job he did at Newcastle

Not sure about Marcelino. But I really like Leo Jardim. He is also Portuguese (born in Venezuela) and also managed my adopted team of Sporting (where he was replaced some someone called Marco Silva). You'll all know him from his time at Monaco. Leo is not doing too well and a change of manager may suit everyone there. My only reservation on Jardim is he lacks the force of personality of Vitor Pereira.

Bruce spent £61million this summer. Which was more than Rafael spent in his whole time there I believe
