Swearing Warnings?

Talking about language: I heard one senior steward yesterday over on the western wharf tell a steward that the bridge over to the other side of the water channel was a 'sterile area'. In other words, no contaminating punters were allowed over there.

You cant swear in the 'facility'; and you cant put your proletarian feet down beyond a certain point and soil it.

Great stadium etc but Evertonians are being treated like they're an inconvenience down there.

Surely they have the email details of everyone’s seat, could they not have just emailed people, instead of putting them visibly and publicly at ridicule and compromising the fans dignity.

Strikes me as a bit naïve the management of this by our new incumbents, let’s be frank here we wouldn’t be a PL without the fans two of the last three seasons, while the fans made headlines around the world with the scenes during the Goodison Godbye.

You can’t rely on that passion, or profile it and market around the world, then start singling out individual fans when their passion has got the best of them.

Poor Everton management, very poor.

Suppose it’s as much to let the complainants know they’re taking action, as letting the sweary blighters know they’re onto their foul mouthed ways

Spot on mate. Something sinister going on here. Take a look at that post in the stadium thread too.

These people and 'their' 'facility' are walking on thin ice.

IF all the guy did was swear then the game has officially gone. Its part and parcel of the whole experience of the match and if its to much for some people then that's on them. We pay more then enough ludicrous money to not get judged by the purity police.

Now, with that being said. There has to be more to this then a guy just swearing. I would've been kicked out day one if it was that easy to get warnings. Nah, he was probably losing his mind and borderline frothing at the mouth while swearing at literally everything and everyone. Even then I don't think that a "yellow card" warning is the way forward. A straightforward 'behave yourself or get kicked out' warning from the stewards would've worked better and not lead to confusion.

ye i do wonder with these if it is just swearing. heard quite a few homophobic slurs recently
Yes definitely had two behind me on Saturday at the ref with homophonic slurs! The English language is pretty descriptive and other sentences can be formed just as short, questioning the integrity of referee..

I think swearing within reason should be treated as something that is obviously going to happen when you have a load of grown men and women at a football match,

That said I personally have heard so much homophobic and racist stuff myself since moving to the new stadium, which I've found a bit crazy, some people also just consistently negative all game.

Feel like some people treat the social acceptance of swearing at the match too far to be honest

I haven't been to the new stadium yet (life has got in the way in the form of my first child!) but wherever I have been sat at Goodison there has been at least one person who has taken the foul language too far. Has ranged from someone calling McNeil a homophobic term to a kid and his mum shouting abuse and swearing at the team for about 60 minutes of the game before an old fella got fed up and told them to shut up and support the team. I don't think people care or are concerned about the odd F off here and there but when it's constant, it's really off putting when you're trying to watch the game and I don't really class those people as real fans.
