of course it's money well spent. He's 21 and when he's firing is one of the best forwards in the league. We're guaranteed to make a profit on him (transfer figure wise)
Bought for £28 million, question marks about his ability big time. A profit is extremely unlikely, certainly not guaranteed. I hope I'm wrong but I'm leaning towards the 'He's sh1te' camp.

He missed most of Wigan's relegation season injured, big factor in them going down. Him being fit for the Cup Final was crucial in them winning it. He's barely played for us, and Id say the only game he looked truly out of his depth was Liverpool away...but then who in our defence didnt in that game?

In terms of depth, lets take it that our first 11 is:

Howard
Coleman-Stones-Jagielka-Baines
Barry-McCarthy
Mirallas-Naismith-Pienaar
Lukaku

How many of our other players would we be happy to deputise or shuffle the lineup around? Not many for me. Barkley obviously when he's fit, McGeady, Gibson, Eto'o, Oviedo. Id just about include Alcaraz in this category as well, but I know plenty wouldnt. Besic, Kone and Atsu the jury's out or they havent played enough. Joel is probably in this camp too, but most have probably made their minds up already. Thats not a lot at all.

Hibbert, Distin and Osman look past it now. Id be unhappy to see any of them in our starting lineup, short of a massive injury crisis. The likes of Garbutt, Browning etc cant really be judged yet.

Yes I agree. Eto'o, Atsu, Besic and Kone have played a handful of games between them so can't be judged but I'm sure they'll come in handy and turn out to be decent players. Atsu and Besic are very raw but I think they could end up being great players, we've definitely got a healthy squad size.

He's 21 - on a five year contract. In three/four years he'll be bagging 25/30 a season if he is developed correctly (which he will be). We'll make a profit (if/when we sell him). If not we've got a very good striker on our hands for the next five years at least

Besic was very composed I thought. Didn't do anything second half but what do you expect, you're being far too quick to jump on a few players backs there. It's a competition we don't care about and they did.
Besic - Composed yes but lacking in any drive and authority, we were extremely poor. My 8 hour round trip drive may have an influence on my opinion, just thought the players were largely shocking from what I watched. Second half was pitiful, me and my lad were just joking with each other after 60 minutes, accepting how sh1te we were/are.

You're in a fantasy world. He's not all that.

Not bad mate. Only took you 13 months to come to this conclusion.

Questioning a 21 year old's ability. Amazing. I didn't see you questioning his ability as a 20 year old though.

.......last Thursday night we all had the feel good factor after turning over a top side from a top league. Less that a week on the situation has completely turned around. Like everybody else, I have analysed the last 2 games but don't really have answers. Some politician once said 'a week is a long time in politics', it can be even longer with Everton.

Lukaku has scored 15 league goals the last 2 seasons - against United, City, Liverpool as well.

Even if he doesn't improve (which to me is doubtful), having a 15-20 goals a season striker for 5 years for us is fantastic. I want to see his interplay with Barkley. You can't judge a signing like him for at least 2 years. Some people here are ridiculous
