Super Van, should he play longer and more often?

If hes fit and he can provide any type of service for the club use him.

I dont like him though, i dont rate him and i find it slightly amusing that there is a thread for him the day a Brazilian international centre forward scores two goals for the club on his debut.

Nah , not for me . He'l do for the rest of this season , esp' in the cup . After that , howevr , its , shake his hand , give him his P45 , and give the number 7 shirt to someone who's actually in the squad even half of the games in any given season .

Exacto. Lets not carried away, he's for a very large portion of his time here been absolute [Poor language removed]/injured/head not right.

If we are to progress, we need a decent number 7.

I think a winger with genuine pace and class will be top of Mr Moye's list in the summer.

Is the correct answer.

In the end it's a shame, there's no doubting he had talent but he simply didn't see enough time on the pitch due to injuries, lack of fitness, problems off the pitch and form of other players. He's hasn't started enough games for anyone to judge him, whether you rate him or not.

We shouldn't keep him beyond this season though, not a chance. We need to move on and so does he to be honest. I hope he gets his career back on track because there is something there.

The grand plan is VDM isn't going to be back. Moyes has been easy to read on him. He will only be used for 5 or 10 minutes when Moyes needs him. Your seeing it all unfold with Gosling preferred then Rodwell next. My impression today Gosling is bringing to the table a out of form Pienaar hasn't been lately width. I eventually think Pienaar and Osman will be alternated anyway in the future. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Osman was ******* awful today and Shandy offers us quality and width.

He really makes a difference imo, drags the full backs out and provides more space for Mikel to work his magic.

Osman plays too inside much and Arteta has to cover him because he's not in position.

Plus Osman has been awful recently.

Van Der Meyde provides quality to get to the byline and put in a cracking cross. He's still got it, it's obvious.

He's ******* superb. I'd love to go on a night out with him.

i'd like to see what he can really do before the summer.

give him a chance if he is fit enough and aware enough to cope.

I hope he starts soon instead of Osman.

He gives us more options, more width and quality down the wing.

He gives the opposition something to think about. He can hug the touchline and stretch teams. He's also still got the brains to beat a man and cross the ball, which he usually does superbly by the way.

He's not gonna run like a dog all game but for a team that is hoping to catch Arsenal, we need some quality and something different.

As much as i like Osman and think he's a good footballer, he's becoming terribly [Poor language removed] on the wing and increasingly predictive.

It won't happen though will it?

Gosling, Osman and Pienaar are all ahead of Van der Meyde.

So are the likes of Rodwell, Cahill, Arteta, Neville etc.

He still looks fat and out of shape, he'll have to be a sub for awhile. He has the ability to unseat Osman, but he's got alot of work to do before he gets out of the doghouse.

He will be a good sub for the last 20/30 mins when he can run at tired teams>>>>
