Super Van, should he play longer and more often?

I'm not taking anything away from him, just not jumping on the bandwagon that he has somehow made up for all these years after 2 ok but nothing more sub appearances.

I'd love it if he did have a run of appearances where he showed some of the old magic and helped the team, but he's got a long way to go yet.

If he can be used as a sub and brought on towards the end of matches, I think we'll get something back. Despite all the crap, and I don't think all of it was his fault, he looks hungry to do well. Plus, there seems genuine affection between him and the other players.

He'll be off in the summer, so let's hope he goes on a reasonably positive note. (y)

Very good footballer, technically he is up there with the best in our squad BUT he isn't ready to start a game and probably never will be. Certainly not at Everton.

He should remain on the bench but I would like to see him get more than 5 minutes. Maybe 15-20 minutes per game, he'd definetly give you something. He's a postive attacking player and he can offer quality in the final third.

Well summed up. He's a quality option to bring into games and really ought to be used. He seems ready, so Moyes should be too.

He's lost weight, looks like he wants to play here too. I thought he was good when he came on. We know Van Der Meyde loves the strikes, but when he won a freekick outside the box - instead of Blasting it towards goal (like most would expect) he took a quick freekick to Lescott. Very unselfish (y)

He might be destined to become the next f.a cup talisman al la Amo 95 or Trebilcock 66 - The cross that beat the [Poor language removed] - The winner against Villa next week (who knows) - football has a funny habit of doing things like this(y)
Come on Van the man - prove me right:D

Refuse to believe the current hype surrounding Shandy VDM. It's been the same story throughout his career. Shows glimpses of his enormous potential, during a few matches and fades away after that.

Still hope he proves me wrong, as I don't doubt his natural abillity, but I very much doubt it.:(

I won't believe the hype but I also firmly believe that with the injury and fitness issues he's had, he hasn't had a fair run at the first team.

I really don't think there's ever been a time that he hasn't wanted to play for us. It's been more a matter of not being able to play for us.

I can't tell you how happy I am for him right now though.

I actually Like VDM, he deserves a chance to prove himself in his final year at Goodison

With Osman not playing his best, and after delaying his operation at the start of the season, he is starting to run out of steam, ideal replacement to run at the oppositions Wing Backs, get Fellaini or Cahill on the end

Maybe get a goal or two, so why not play him, we pay his wages

I agree on it not being a case of him not wanting to play for us, but more of him not putting his career at the top of his priorities. And I'm not talking about the awful situation regarding his baby girl.

Nah , not for me . He'l do for the rest of this season , esp' in the cup . After that , howevr , its , shake his hand , give him his P45 , and give the number 7 shirt to someone who's actually in the squad even half of the games in any given season .
