Player Valuation: £100m
Everton are set to sign Lukas Podolski for £5million in January.

The out of favour Bayern Munich striker handed in an transfer request last week which has alerted Everton boss David Moyes.

Moyes is confident he can beat Tot tenham and Manchester City in the race for the 23-year-old German international, who scored three goals in last summer's Euro 2008 finals.

Podolski is behind Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose in the Bayern strikers' pecking order.

Also remaining high on the Moyes wish-list is Marseille skipper Lorik Cana.

Everton were interested in the Albanian midfielder last summer, but backed away at his £12m price tag - and signed Marouane Fellaini instead. Moyes sent No.2 Steve Round to watch Cana turn out at Liverpool in midweek.

EVERTON have started moves to bring Lukas Podolski to Goodison Park.

David Moyes has been monitoring Podolski’s situation since Euro 2008 amid whispers that he is unhappy at Bayern Munich.

Podolski, 23, has confirmed he will be leaving the German giants by handing in a transfer request.

That has alerted a string of Premier League clubs — but it is Everton who plan to be first out of the traps.

Boss Moyes suggested last week that he will have little or no money to spend in the transfer window. But he is concerned about his striking options and the club are considering ways of raising the finance.

Podolski would not come cheap — but in the current climate, he is unlikely to be over- priced, either. A bid of just under £10million should be sufficient.

Moyes insists he will NOT sell to raise funds. But he may be forced to reassess the situation as problems mount up front.

New boy Louis Saha complained of a hamstring problem after the defeat at Wigan and James Vaughan, whose career has been plagued by injury, is going under the knife again.

Moyes’ main asset, Yakubu, has had an indifferent start to the season.

Despite being a success at the European Championships — the Polish-born striker scored three times — Podolski has not been a regular at the Allianz Arena.

Spurs were interested in him but Harry Redknapp’s priorities now lie elsewhere.

Manchester City have checked out Podolski but their transfer window targets are expected to be even more ambitious.

News Of the World.

Ha ha i laughed too.

the main website carrying a story saying there will be no signings this winter!!

podolski for 5 million? i can't see that. and cana for 12 million?

as if we will splurge 20 million this month.

i really hate transfer window time.

hahahahhahahahahaha

sorry.

Its still Baines out, Hunt in for me in January

I don't think so to be honest. Valente is out for a few months so Lescott would be our only left back if Baines where to leave. I think we'll keep Baines until the end of the summer and then let him go.

No way we'd get Podolski for 5 million GBP. Bayern set his transfer fee at at least €15m. There's a lot of talk in the German media, about him re-joining FC Cologne. Bayern Munich don't want to sell him in January anyway (according to the German media), but will wait for the season to end.

We're so jaded when it comes to transfer time.

We've been promised all the best prezzies but when Christmas morning comes, all's we get are boxes full of shredded newspaper and an IOU saying 'watch this space' in the stocking.
