The Delap thing I would think would be practically nailed on that we'd still have interest. The money involved would be at most what he went for last summer and I doubt one poor season is going to make the scouts see him as a busted flush.

It's subjective, but I think stylistically we would suit him much better than Chelsea and I thought that at the time he went there. I think he chose based on people he knew and trusted rather than objectively what the best move would be.

I'm not saying we should sign him, it's hard to make that argument after the season he's had, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he was of interest at the right price.
really hope we don’t go anywhere near delap. Would be massively overpriced if we went for him at the same price he went for last summer

Haven't really followed what has gone wrong but as the type of forward he is the sort fans seem to love - assuming he scores goals obviously. Plays hard and is a bit of a [Poor language removed] on the field, isn't afraid of hard play and is quick and strong.

Not saying we should sign him, but that profile player in general would be very useful for us and would be the type of striker fans would love. When even a donkey like Straqualursi still has fans among our supporters imagine someone who can actually play a bit. We are (hopefully) not going to play tiki-taka anytime soon so a direct and physical CF would work better than a more technical one. But a lot of Delap's struggles are apparently because Chelsea play a very different style to Ipswhich (not surprisingly). Delap thrived in a direct style, while Chelsea's possession heavy footie really isn't his style. Of course he is apparently something of a [Poor language removed] outside the field as well which would make me say no.

….thinking of Ipswich, not sure Delap is any better than George Hirst and I wouldn’t be interested in him.
Agreed.
Delap got overrated because he had a purple patch at the start of the season with Ipswich (scoring 8 of his goals in the first half). All 12 goals and 2 assists came in 11 games of the 37 he played.

Thats 25 games of the season which he didn’t get a goal contribution. What was his contribution in those games? Did he work hard and press to the extent Beto does? If not, then it’s not an upgrade.

And what he seems to be showing is that it was a flash in the pan season as he now has significantly better players around him and has done very little.

Very wary of getting relegated strikers who look allright in their first season (the Luton striker adebayo did the season before as well). There’s no evidence it can be sustained based off one season.

If Delap can't find space and score with the likes of Cole Palmer feeding him he isn't going to do it for us. He wasn't great for Ipswich, he just got rated because he's young and English.

….a big factor is he was available with that £30m release clause in his Ipswich contract. He’s nice and comfortable at Chelsea until 2031, shades of Broja. Mind you, I’m reminded that somebody on here forecast that Broja, along with Chermiti, will be the most skilful forwards Everton has ever had

….i think he likes Iroegbunam, especially having him available to manage games. Saying that, we can’t continually buy without selling and they all have their price.

I think he likes him to mate - but i also think he likes McNeill and still - we were prepared to sell him, i think in management you have to be ruthless and if you can improve on a squad place you have to really and i think they can with Tim. I think he likes Tim because hes big and physical as opposed to him being a great footballer.

He is also in the red zone of his contract - so we either sell him or tie him down - the lad himself has to make a decision to in terms of his career and game time - hes getting to that age. I wouldn't be surprised based on all the above he moves on.

Charly i think Moyes doesnt fancy or turst - i dont think he really wante dhim, i suspect we bought him to sell on if im honmest.

Love how we're linked with midfielders & centre backs - the two positions we definitely need additions to!!

I wouldn't be surprised if we sell Tim and Charly and Idrissa will prob go into his last year.

Centre backs ages at start of next season:
Branthwaite (24)
OBrien (25)
Tarkowski (33)
Keane (33)

We may find one RB is signed and OBrien is cover. We may want a 5th if were in Europe or a younger player to develop due to the ages of Keane and Tarkowski.

Midfielders ages at start of next sesson:

Armstrong (19)
Iroegbunam (23)
Alcaraz (23)
Rohl (24)
Garner (25)
KDH (27)
Gana (36)

A really idea blend of ages there but we know that only Garner, KDH and Armstrong are the most likely to be at the club in 12months time.

Iroegbunam per the athletic was available if clubs would have paid his "lofty" asking price in January.

Alcaraz and Gana decisions need to be made on and Rohl isnt exactly a signing were excited about especially with Moyes recent comments.

Could see some players recycled there.

Now do fullbacks, wingers & strikers (and goalie, for completeness) separately

and assess urgency for personnel in each of those departments. I'd suggest the lowest urgency (of the... 6 groups) is for the 2 centre backs and the 3 centre midfield spots.
