Summer transfer window.

Yeh that can happen. I’m not saying only sign players with an insanely clean bill of health but we need to stop signing players with really obviously bad records. Hence I’m not shocked no one is really in for Branthwaite these days.
I hear you

I'm just saying, Transfermarkt injury page will make loads of players look like a bad investment. Think we can forget just how many injuries modern players accrue and, equally, how our bodies recover from stress or react to treatment.

Don't get me wrong, a player who has missed 75% of the last 3 seasons with hamstring problems that get progressively worse is possibly a watch. But people will print screen a player who has a list of minor injuries over the last 3 seasons ranging from illness to muscle fatigue to back problems and claim that they are injury prone, forgetting that p much every professional at the top level has some kind of injury record

To be fair, I reckon most players I’ve called out as injury prone last summer have proven me right so far

Marc Casado from Barcelona could be the tenacious number 6 we might think about going for as he's lost his place in the Barcelona side

I get confused between Casado & Bernal.

Think its Casado with the ridiculous bite in the tackle. Very good player.

If you're good enough and show it when you get the chance, yeah I think he would.

None of our bench have grabbed a chance and made you look up thinking we have a player here.

That doesn't mean they wont, but the point that was put out in the original post was we should have signed him in the Summer..

If we are going to be in a great place, we shouldn't always be saying we should have signed these certain players. We should be the ones doing it while other clubs are saying it.

I'm strongly leaning towards my view over the course of the season that Moyes has no interest in developing players.

I also find it challenging to believe that a player can be thrown into a game for a few minutes, dropped thrown in again...and somehow instantly perform?

No one has done that...yet. certainly doesnt seem logical to me.

Aznou did and never seen again.

Anyway, round in circles on this.

Going to be interesting to see the age profiles of those who join in the summer.

Yeah it's Casado who likes a tackle. Only 22 too. A cheeky loan to buy could be good business

only to you

The £50 mill agreement was only ever so City could impair him as an asset in their books mate.

If Grealish digs his heels in, we should be able to get him on a similar deal then this year - with a behind the scenes contract for a couple of years beyond agreed in principal.

Personally im not that invested in Grealish - but i think wel do it.

Think we will get him for his book value. £16.7m. Maybe a bit less with us already paying £12m for his loan fee.

Grealish inked a six-year contract with City back in 2021, his £100m fee amortised over those six years, before amortisation was capped at five years by the Premier League and UEFA, working out at £16.7m per year, not including his reported £15m per year in wages.

Certainly logical mate, but if we could agree a similar loan we’d only be committing £12 mill this year.

If we bought for £16.7 mill plus wages we’d be taking on North of £20 mill this year and prob 5 mill over a couple of years.

The benifit to buying him outright is we can use him commercially more then we have as we would have less limits on his image rights - which largely remain with City and he could be the face of marketing at the club.

I’m conflicted on Grealish to be honest, I think even though he’s still very good, his best is behind him and committing £30+ mill on him in the next few years with little investment return isn’t probably the best long term strategic decision.

I am very much full of vacillation when it comes this move. Think he can work well in this system but is getting older. Would have to make sense financially for us and not sure that can be done. We shall see I suppose.

Sorry Jack, but your Book value seems to be playing too big a factor in our fanbase.
We would love you to be able to help take us into Europe, bring in more money, improve our appeal to future signings, but with your lack of resale value, it just has to be a NO ..

We appreciate the joy you have brought to this club after years of misery, but we think the money is far better spent on a 17yr old from Kazakhstan.

Some of the names linked are really a nice change of pace compared to the usual cast offs.

Said El Mala & Mateus Fernandes however unlikely would be epic.

Guela Doue and Kevin Pedro for right back.

Christian Kofane as well up top.

Tell you what, if those 5 were announced tomorrow as done deals that would go through in the summer...

...it would be fabulous.

Yes, never happening, but nice to wish.
